Miis VS Minifigures (Nintendo VS Lego)
“You can be anything you want to be. Just turn yourself into anything you think that you could ever be.” - Freddie Mercury
The Miis, Nintendo’s expressive avatars that turned the gaming industry on its head.
The Minifigures, Lego’s blocky mascots that revolutionized the toy industry.
As we grow older, we reminisce about the dreams we used to have as children. Whether it was dreaming of becoming a professional athlete or a magical wizard fighting dragons and the like, you tend to miss and want to go back to those days of your brain’s endless imagination. Thankfully, with the invention and evolution of toys and video games, that isn’t a problem as you now have the option to make your own customizable characters to your heart’s content. Like these two! These two avatars are the pinnacle of creativity. The wild adventures they have gone on, big and small, are what we as consumers always come back to in order to escape from our not so interesting lives as we see these characters as extensions of ourselves.
A bit too philosophical we know but how else are you supposed to describe these guys, they don’t really have any real personality besides the ones you give them because… they’re you! Or maybe not, as these two may appear to be blank canvases, they’re still characters, building and living in their own communities and societies when we aren’t the ones controlling them. But now it’s time to see which avatar truly reigns supreme. Will the poster children of the Nintendo Wii shine through, or will Lego’s trademark toys build their own path to victory in this DEATH BATTLE!
Before We Start…
Because this matchup is surprisingly complex and difficult to understand at first glance, we need to set some ground rules on how this debate will be laid out.
First things first, as the matchup suggests, we will be looking at these characters as customizable avatars and the games where they are at the forefront will be the primary focus of analysis along with treating them as their own species as they are in-universe. Games where they are either unlockable characters or not at the forefront will be used for supplementary scaling and greater arsenal depth (i.e. the Mario / Smash series and The Lego Movie Game 1 + 2).
Secondly, the interpretation of whether this is a composite 1v1 or an army fight will not contribute to the outcome of the matchup. This blog’s purpose is to look at every possible incarnation for both to get the most accurate result possible and your own interpretation of how this matchup should be is entirely up to you who’s reading this. Another thing to note is both franchises / universes do have “named” or “already established” characters (Wii series CPUs, Great Sage, The Dark Lord, Emmet, Chase McCain, etc.). These characters will not partake in the battle themselves. However, they will be provided for scaling purposes to both avatars.
Lastly, and probably the most important, 1st-party media ONLY! This is just for simplicity’s sake as the Miis as they have shown up in many 3rd-party IPs like the Sonic, Bomberman, and Disney series and there are customizable Minifigures in the Lego Star Wars and Lego Harry Potter games for example. This is where the divide begins as these cases of 3rd-party crossovers are very different between the two. With the Miis, they are literally just there with the characters side-by-side while in Lego’s case, they are Lego adaptations of the media they are converting with the stories and character personalities being drastically different from the original and aren’t really comparable to the Miis’ situation. This is a decision made to prevent the debate from being bloated and difficult to follow. If you include 3rd-party media for one you have to include for the other, and the same for exclusion, so we are omitting it for both to keep things fair and digestible.
To sum it all up, the material we’ll be looking at includes: the Wii series, StreetPass, Tomodachi Life, Nintendo Land, Miitopia, Super Smash Bros. and the Super Mario series for the Miis. And all of the 1st-party Lego games, The Lego Movie, and Ninjago will be used for the Minifigures. We know all of this sounds really confusing but you’ll understand more as you read through the blog.
We hope this clears everything up. Now, enjoy the chaos… we mean blog!
Background
Miis
The year was 1986. Nintendo had been developing an attachment to the Famicom called the “Famicom Disk System”, allowing the console to read and play games attached to floppy disks. Shigeru Miyamoto had an idea for a game that allowed players to make faces of themself or people they knew. He dubbed it the “Make Someone You Know Project”. When a demo was finished, Miyamoto showed it to his fellow colleagues where the response was… not what he had hoped. The project was put on hold until 1999 when Nintendo had just released the Nintendo 64 console and began developing an attachment called the N64 Disk Drive (sound familiar?). Miyamoto began creating a set of game disks called “Mario Artist”, a successor to the Mario Paint series. The one we’re focusing on is called the “Mario Talent Studio”, a game that was actually released in Japan. The game acted as another prototype of Miyamoto’s vision of making a character creator game. However, his colleagues at Nintendo still didn’t believe this would work as an actual game. Sales were expectantly low with the N64 Disk Drive selling only around 15,000 units.
We jump over to 2002 when the Gameboy Advance was on the market, and along it came a new attachment being developed, the Game Eye Camera. Miyamoto developed an idea where the player can take photos with the Gameboy’s camera and transport them to the Nintendo Gamecube where they can be used for the face of a character. The game would be called “Stage Debut” and it was showcased at E3 and an upcoming, near completed, project. However, colleagues at Nintendo did not believe it would be a full-functioning game. So in turn, the project was canceled yet again.
It only took over 20 years for Miyamoto’s vision to become a reality. He realized that all of his previous attempts at making a character creator were way too complex. From too many customization options to being way too complicated from importing photos from one console to another. He needed something simple and memorable. This was during the production of the Nintendo Wii that Miyamoto’s “Make Someone You Know Project’ was finally completed and released worldwide with the console. These avatars would be known as the Miis.
First appearing on the Wii, the Miis were created avatars made on the Mii Channel that would be ported over into various Wii games. Their simple yet endearing appearances took the world by storm. Along with Wii Sports coming bundled with the console itself, Miis became a phenomenon in the gaming sphere. The Miis were a staple and became the face of many games such Wii Play, Wii Fit, Wii Party, and many more to present day. These loveable walking-talking canvases are truly one-of-a-kind.
Minifigures
In Billund, Denmark, 1932, there was a skilled carpenter named Ole Kirk Christiansen. He was a well-working man with a workshop, loving wife and three sons. One day, one of Ole’s sons accidentally caused the workshop to burst in flames after setting a pile of wood chips on fire. The family luckily survived and rebuilt the workshop with a fourth son being born. Years later, the Great Depression was in effect and Ole lost his business and his wife, Kristine. Unemployed, Ole struggled to take care of his four sons by himself. He would use some of his leftover wood to build new toys for his sons and he has a new business idea. He would start making toys and word spread of his artistry. Two years after his business opened, Ole named his business “Lego” based on the phrase “Leg Godt” meaning “Play Well”. He would then go on to build 42 different toys for his company.
It was not long before tragedy struck once again. Germany had invaded Denmark, leading to many struggling financially. History repeated itself as a fire would burn Ole’s workshop to the ground. Ole began to lose hope until he was reminded of his sons and workers, he was willing to try again. One day, in Copenhagen, Ole attended a tradeshow to which he discovered a plastic molding machine. It was invented in order to make cheap products for kids to play with during the crisis of World War II. Ole was inspired by a toy he had seen called the “Kiddicraft Self-Locking Building Bricks”. Ole saw the potential and made his own version called the “Automatic Binding Bricks” that was later named to Lego Bricks. The response was fairly negative as the kids had trouble using them, they weren’t sticking together properly, but Ole kept trying. Meanwhile, one of Ole’s sons, Godtfredt, was in England visiting a toy exhibit.and met a man named Troels Peterson who had believed there was no system in the toy industry. Godtfredt said that Lego would be up for the challenge. “They [Kids] need something different that will strengthen their imagination and creativity,” he said.
Over the next several months, Lego would skyrocket in popularity, Ole and Godtfredt improved the bricks’ design and things were looking bright. Until during the time of success, Ole had a heart attack and passed away. Godtfredt would now take on his father’s legacy and built it up to eventually what we know as Lego today. In turn, the company now received a rebrand and in came a new face to the toy. The Minifigures.
These iconic yellow-skinned characters are loved by many and have not stopped anytime soon with the creation of several box sets as well as various video games showcasing the plethora of adventures these figures can go through. To think that a billion-dollar toy empire started from just a humble carpenter in his workshop is something truly beyond anyone’s imagination.
Experience & Skill
Miis
Whether it’s through sports, party games, magical lands filled with monsters. Miis are no stranger to competition and fighting. They are skilled in the blade, magic, firearms, piloting vehicles, etc. The Miis are built for nearly every situation and their skill is rival to no one but each other as a collective species. Not to mention they have experience fighting the deadliest of monsters that roam the land of Miitopia, and will eventually defeat the Dark Lord and its various incarnations. However, even after defeating the Dark Lord, the world still had monsters to defeat, and the Miis were more than up for the challenge.
Minifigures
The Minifigures have a looooooooong legacy when it comes to fighting, they have existed since the Prehistoric period, Medieval Times, Roman and American Revolutionary wars, many time periods all the way to their present. They are extremely smart with a resume of countless different professions which includes jobs with science, swords, firearms, piloting vehicles, etc. They are more than up for any task you throw at them. Even when tasked with defending the entire Lego Universe from the dark threat that is the Maelstrom, the Minifigures were able to hold their own, even against greater numbers.
Equipment
Miis
Sports Equipment
Seen throughout the Wii series. These are typically used to simply play the sport they’re made for rather than used in a combat scenario, but have you ever been hurt playing a sport before? Those injuries last for a while. The Miis have been seen using the following:
Note: Majority of these do not require explaining, you’ve hopefully seen sports equipment before.
Tennis Racket and Tennis Balls
The Tennis Balls in particular are also used as projectiles by Matt to train evasion for boxing.
Baseball Bat and Baseballs
Bowling Balls
Golf Clubs
The clubs used in Wii Sports range (get it?) from 8 different types: Putter, Wedge, 9-Iron, 7-Iron, 5-Iron, 3-Iron, 3-Wood, and Driver. Miis also use a golf club in the Wii Party minigame: “Quicker Chipper”.
Boxing Gloves
Fake(?) Swords
Seen in both “Swordplay” and “Chambara”, it is likely these aren’t as likely fatal as real-life swords as they act more like blunt objects than blades (̶W̶u̶h̶u̶ ̶I̶s̶l̶a̶n̶d̶ ̶a̶n̶d̶ ̶S̶p̶o̶c̶c̶o̶ ̶S̶q̶u̶a̶r̶e̶ ̶w̶o̶u̶l̶d̶ ̶b̶e̶ ̶g̶e̶t̶t̶i̶n̶g̶ ̶m̶a̶s̶s̶i̶v̶e̶ ̶l̶a̶w̶s̶u̶i̶t̶s ̶i̶f̶ ̶s̶o̶). However, they have been shown to cut large objects clean in half. Miis can also dual-wield.
Body Armor
Worn in “Swordplay”, the players are to wear these in order to lessen the chance of potential injuries in the sport.
Frisbee
Bow and Arrow
Basketball
Ping-Pong Paddle and Ping-Pong Balls
Canoe Paddle
Soccer Ball
Volleyball
Badminton Racket and Birdies
Pool Cue
Used in the Wii Play minigame: “Billiards”.
Soccer Cleats
Although they were used in Nintendo Switch Sports to traverse the soccer field, in the Wii Fit exercise: “Soccer Heading”, the Miis use them as violent projectiles for some reason.
Hula Hoops
Skis
Snowboard
Snow Tube
Used in the Wii Party U minigame: “Super Snow Sliders”. It allows the Miis to traverse across snowy terrain.
Pole Vault
Used in the Wii Party U minigame: “Mii Vaulters”. It allows the Miis to launch themselves across distances.
Ice Skates
Used in the Wii Party U minigame: “Ice Spinners”
Helmet and Elbow / Knee Pads
For protection while doing more dangerous activities like skateboarding or riding a unicycle over a canyon
Dodgeball
Used in Mario Sports Mix
Hockey Stick and Puck
Used in Mario Sports Mix
Fishing Rod
Used in many Wii games like Wii Play and Wii Party. The Mii can catch fish with it. No matter the size, shape, or breed.
Wii Fit Balance Board
The centerpoint of the Wii Fit series. The Wii Fit Balance Board is a console designed to help with many types of different exercises such as yoga, strength training, aerobics, balance exercises, and even dance. The console in-universe however seems to have a bit of sentience with feelings and will act as a guide throughout the series to check your progress. Not really combat applicable but a nice moral support.
Also a daily reminder that fitness isn’t just a hobby, it’s a lifestyle.
Panda Head
Seen in the Wii Fit exercise: “Soccer Heading”. Miis will kick in order to get you, the player, to mistake it for a soccer ball.
Penguin Suit
Seen in the Wii Fit exercise: “Penguin Slide”. It’s helpful for traversing around icy surfaces.
Chicken Suit
Seen in the Wii Fit Plus exercise: “Bird’s Eye Bullseye”. This gives the Mii the ability to fly for short periods of time.
Hose
Seen in the Wii Fit U exercise: “Hosedown”. It is a stationary hose that the player uses to shoot pressurized blasts of water at any mud-covered opponents that are in the way.
Snowman Disguise
Seen in the Wii Fit U exercise: “Snowball Fight”. As the name suggests, it allows the Mii to disguise as a snowman, allowing them to take an extra hit before becoming vulnerable. They can also throw the snowman's head as a projectile.
Diving Suit
Seen in the Wii Fit U exercise: “Scuba Search”, it allows the Mii to traverse underwater, though the oxygen supply is limited.
Flying Squirrel Suit
Seen in Pilotwings Resort, as known as a “Wingsuit”. In real life, these special skydiving suits are used to modify the amount of body area exposed to wind for increased airtime. Wingsuit pilots can perform what is known as a “flare” in which the pilot dives to build up speed and then open up their wings to gain altitude/airtime.
Parachute
Used in Wii Sports Resort and Pilotwings Resort. It’s just your average parachute.
Riding Crop
Seen in the Wii Party minigame: “Derby Dash”, it’s used to make the horse go faster, simple as that.
Franziska von Karma would be proud.
Kitchen Knife
Seen in the Wii Party minigame: “Chop Chops”. The Miis use it to chop and cut food, and in this case, onions.
Popgun
Seen in the Wii Party minigames: “Popgun Posse”, “Pop-Up Bandits”, “Pop Coaster”, and “Can Poppers”. It’s been used to shoot cans, standees, and balloons.
Astronaut Suit
Seen in multiple Wii Party and Wii Party U minigames. Allows the wearer to breathe in space… obviously. It’s also equipped with a tether cable and an arm cannon.
Camera
Seen in many Wii Party and Wii Party U minigames. It allows the Miis to take pictures of whoever or whatever they want. Whether it be birds, people, or even flying saucers.
Human-Sized Hamster Ball
Seen in the Wii Party minigame: “Ball Brawl”. Allows the Miis to ram into each other at high speeds.
Punching Glove
Seen in the Wii Party minigame: “Tropical Punch”. Miis can press a button and the glove will extend to launch Miis away.
Toy Hammer
Seen in the Wii Party minigame: “Hammer Heads”, and the Wii Party U minigame: “Balloon Boppers”. Not very deadly but it can leave you dazed if hit. You can also use a toy hammer in the Wii Play Motion game: “Veggie Guardin”.
Axe
Seen in the Wii Party minigame: “Timber Topple”. It’s a comically large axe, what else do I need to say?
Robots
Seen in the Wii Party minigame: “Robot Factory” and the Wii Party U minigame: “Assemble Bots”. The Miis can make robots that come equipped with a built-in jetpack that lets them fly.
Flashlight
Seen in the Wii Party minigame: “Torchlit Terror”. It’s used to harm and scare away ghosts. Miis also get access to flashlights in the Nintendo Land when playing the game: “Luigi’s Ghost Mansion”, which serve the same purpose.
However, the flashlights in Nintendo Land seem to have a limited battery life and the Miis must pick up batteries scattered throughout the map to replenish it. These flashlights also have the ability to revive Miis that have fainted.
Throwing Darts
Seen in the Wii Party U minigame: “Jumping Target”. The Miis throw large darts at a giant board to gain points.
Shurikens
Seen in the Wii Party U minigame: “Star Pupil”. Miis can throw shurikens a̶l̶s̶o̶ ̶c̶a̶l̶l̶e̶d̶ ̶n̶i̶n̶j̶a̶ ̶s̶t̶a̶r̶s̶ ̶f̶o̶r̶ ̶y̶o̶u̶ ̶n̶o̶n̶-̶w̶e̶e̶b̶s at their respective target (usually a wooden standee). You can also use shurikens in Wii Play Motion in the game: “Trigger Twist”, where you can throw them at ninjas and various pots around the area.
Space Gun
Seen in the Wii Party U minigame: “Space Zappers”. It sends out what looks like an EMP blast and is used for taking down alien UFOs. You can also use a space gun in Wii Play Motion, in the game “Trigger Twist” where you do the same thing.
Giant Ball
Seen in the Wii Party U minigame: “Maze Malaise”. The Miis use it to move around.
Barrel with Paddles
Seen in the Wii Party U minigame: “River Rollin’”. The Miis use it to move around, this time in the water.
Inner Tubes
Seen in the Wii Party U minigame: “Tube Tosser”. The Miis can throw these inner tubes at their opponents hoping to get them stuck inside.
Invisibility Vial
Seen in the Wii Party U minigame: “U Can’t Catch Mii”. This vial of an unidentified chemical allows the user to turn invisible for around 20 seconds given the minigame’s timer. The user will remain invisible until touched.
Bamboo Stick
Seen in the Wii Party U minigame: “Ninja Scramble”. The Miis use this to help them breathe underwater.
Dog/Cat Mask
In the Wii Party U mode: “Lost and Found Square”, Miis can don either a dog or cat mask to confuse their peers.
Hunting Gun
Used in the Wii Play Motion game: “Trigger Twist”. It’s used to shoot down dinosaurs as big as a T-Rex.
Umbrella and Rollerskates
Used in the Wii Play Motion game: “Wind Runner”. They allow the Miis to move along with the wind at high speeds, even allowing themselves to hover a little bit in the air.
Ghost-Capturing Machine
Used in the Wii Play Motion game: “Spooky Search”. As the name suggests, it sucks in ghosts, even ones as big as the mansion the minigame takes place in.
Deep-Sea Diving Suit
Used in the Wii Play Motion game: “Treasure Twirl”. It helps the Miis traverse through the depths of the ocean. The suit is tough enough to withstand jellyfish stings and attacks from sharks.
Sword and Shield
Used in the StreetPass game: “Find Mii”. Allows standard offense and defense. Nothing really much to say.
Potions
In the StreetPass game: “Find Mii”. By using irl digital currency known as Play Coins (it’s not crypto we swear), your Mii can buy and use certain potions.
Vial of Valor: Calls back 3 fallen “heroes” that have left
Power Potion: Boosts your heroes’ levels
Dispelling Draft: Blows away gas spewed by enemies
Bottled Barrier: Nullifies enemy magic
“Monster Manor” Weapons
In the StreetPass game: “Monster Manor”, you can use a bunch of different weapons (9/10 times, it’s a gun) to take down spooky-themed enemies. There are five types of weapon choices: Light, Fire, Electric, Ice, and Wind. They all act essentially the same from one another, just having different damage output and reload times, as well as how many batteries they need, with the maximum being 8.
“Battleground Z” Weapons
In the StreetPass game: “Battleground Z”, you use everyday objects around you to fight the zombie horde. All of the weapons pretty much do the same thing, that being your average blunt force weapon, just slightly altered in stats. Nothing too crazy that sets them apart from each other.
The list of Battleground Z weapons include the following:
Utensils
Sheep Pillow
Megaphone
Party Popper
Formal Wear
Shopping Bags
Costume
Pencil
Piggy Bank
Frying Pan
Broom
Wii Remote
Tablet
Boom Box
Ray Gun
Pop-Up Book
Go-Kart
Bowling Ball
Backpack
Suitcase
Fishing Rod
Camera
Art Supplies
Robotic Pet
Disco Ball
Tote Bag
Mechanical Yoshi
In Nintendo Land, when playing the games: “Yoshi’s Fruit Cart” and “Mario Chase”, You can operate or tag along with a mechanical Yoshi on wheels. In Mario Chase, it’s equipped with a tongue that acts as a boxing glove.
Link’s Bow
In Nintendo Land, when playing the game: “The Legend of Zelda: Battle Quest”, the player holding the Gamepad equips Link’s Bow in order to fight enemies from a distance. To separate it from the bow used in Wii Sports, you can charge the bow to shoot an arrow that does more damage.
Master Sword and Hylian Shield
In Nintendo Land, when playing the game: “The Legend of Zelda: Battle Quest”, the players holding the Wii Remotes gain access to Link’s legendary Master Sword and Hylian Shield albeit a toned-down version of it. You can charge up the Master Sword to unleash a devastating slash attack.
Samus’ Varia Suit
In Nintendo Land, when playing the game: “Metroid Blast”, the player can don Samus’ iconic Varia Suit which can shoot energy blasts out of its arm cannon.
Villager Costumes
In Nintendo Land, when playing the game: “Animal Crossing: Sweet Day”, up to four players will dress up as either Dizzy (Blue), Peanut (Pink), Lily (Green), or Tangy (Orange). The game’s premise has the four villagers gather candy into the costume’s head as they evade cops. The downside is that the more candy you carry, the heavier the head will be, making it harder to move.
Giant Knife and Fork
In Nintendo Land, when playing the game: “Animal Crossing: Sweet Day”, while the four players are dressed as Villagers, the fifth player will play a duo of taggers resembling Booker and Copper. Copper wields a knife while Booker wields a fork.
Takamaru’s Katana
In Nintendo Land, when playing the game: “Takamaru’s Ninja Castle”, the player wields Takamaru’s famous katana (or not so famous because who tf remembers him?).
Ninja Stars and Scrolls
In Nintendo Land, when playing the game: “Takamaru’s Ninja Castle”, the player throws shurikens at enemy ninjas. You can also equip a special scroll that allows you to use the technique “Triple Star” which allows you to throw 3 shurikens at once
Olimar and Pikmin Costumes
In Nintendo Land, when playing the game: “Pikmin Adventure”, one player along with three others act as Olimar and Pikmin respectively. The Miis playing as Pikmin can headbutt large rocks and enemies while the Mii playing as Olimar can summon out actual Pikmin to attack enemies alongside the three other players.
Balloons
In Nintendo Land, when playing the game: “Balloon Trip Breeze”, the player wears a costume similar to that of the Balloon Fighter with two red balloons strapped to their back. These balloons allow the Mii to hover and fly through the air (with the help of the wind).
“Balloon Trip Breeze” Items
In Nintendo Land, when playing the game: “Balloon Trip Breeze”, the player can obtain specific power-ups to aid them on their ventures. Majority of these power-ups can be gained through flying into bubbles containing said power-ups.
Antique Charm
In Miitopia, you receive a mysterious charm from a worried mother in Greenhorne Town. This allows you to choose between 6 different jobs at the start of the game: Warrior, Mage, Cleric, Thief, Pop Star, and Chef. However, over time the selection grows to 12 and you can switch between these jobs at the inn in the post-game. Each job has their own unique quirks, weapons, and abilities. These jobs will be discussed more in detail later in this blog.
Bat Charm
In the post-game of Miitopia, in the Traveler’s Hub you can accept the offer of a wandering Vampire. You’ll find the Bat Charm in Manor Macabre located in the land of Peculia. Once obtained, you gain access to the Vampire job. More on that later in this blog.
Elven Charm
In the post-game of Miitopia, you can find the Elven Charm in a chest after defeating the Replica Dark Lord who is the final boss in the Uncharted Galados. Once obtained, you gain access to the Elf job, More on that later in this blog.
Grub
Grub is one of the main gimmicks in Miitopia. They are obtained after defeating certain monsters in battle and can be enjoyed at the inn after levels. Grub can increase your Mii’s stats (HP, MP, Attack, Magic, Defense and Speed) but that is entirely up to the Mii whether they enjoy it or not. Yeah… even if one Mii likes a certain food, it’s not guaranteed another Mii will like it all the same. Some notable grub include but are not limited to: Butterfly Honey, Golem Steak, Fried Cobra, Devil’s Food Cake, Doggy Doughnut, and the Ultimate Delicacy.
HP Bananas
In Miitopia, HP Bananas heal your HP, pretty straightforward. You can have however many Bananas you want in storage but a Mii can only carry 2 at a time during battles.
MP Candy
In Miitopia, MP Candies heal your MP or Magic Points. MP is what allows you to do special skills unique to your class, typical RPG stuff. You can have however many Candies you want in storage but a Mii can only carry 1 at a time during battles along with their 2 HP Bananas.
Sprinkles
In Miitopia, there are 5 types of sprinkles you can unlock and use on your party members, each with their unique properties:
HP Sprinkles: Max Stat / # of uses = 999, heals your HP
MP Sprinkles: Max Stat / # of uses = 500, heals your MP
Life Sprinkles: Max Stat / # of uses = 1, Resurrects a dead party member
Hyper Sprinkles: Max Stat / # of uses = 5, Turns a party member “Hyper”, tripling damage but only can use normal attacks (no specials). This also undos certain status effects already put on the party member like Anger and Sadness.
Shield Sprinkles: Max Stat / # of uses = 5, Puts on shield on a party member, allowing them to survive one hit without taking any damage. Some status effects can bypass the shield however.
Safe Spot
In Miitopia, there is a gameplay mechanic known as the “Safe Spot”. Miis that are low in health and/or under a certain status condition like possessed or turned to stone, can be healed when resting in the Safe Spot. While in the Safe Spot, Miis can not fight, be harmed or use sprinkles and they use up a turn to heal or be rid of status effects.
“Miitopia” Job Equipment
In Miitopia, there are a total 12 different jobs the Miis can choose from, each with their designated weapons and clothings unique to each job that increase in stats with each new weapon / clothing equipped (Attack or Magic for weapons, Defense for clothing). The unique thing about it is that you have the choice to equip whatever weapon / clothing you want but keep the stats of the highest you have equipped currently.
For example, you equip a sword that’s higher in stats than the sword you had previously, but you can still equip the appearance of the previous sword but keep the same stats of the stronger sword. The same goes for clothing.
Swords and Armors: Worn and used by the Warrior
Wands and Robes Worn and used by the Mage
Staffs and Vestments: Worn and used by the Cleric
Daggers and Gear: Worn and used by the Thief
Microphones and Outfits (F) / Threads (M): Worn and used by the Pop Stars

“Super Mario” Power-Ups
The Miis have crossed over and become playable characters in some of the Super Mario games, such as New Super Mario Bros. U, New Super Luigi U, and New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe. In turn, they are able to use the power-ups featured in said games and carry a large stock of each at a time. These include:
Super Mushroom
The most iconic power-up. It allows the Miis to take one hit before dying and also break blocks.
1-Up Mushroom
The 1-Up Mushroom allows the Miis to be able to revive themselves after death. They can have a limit of up to 99 of these in the New Super Mario Bros. series.
Fire Flower
Turns the Mii into Fire Mii and allows them to shoot fireballs from their hands.
Super Acorn
Turns the Mii into Flying Squirrel Mii. In this form, the Mii is able to glide through the sky, allowing them to avoid bottomless pits and dangerous enemies.
Ice Flower
Turns the Mii into Ice Mii, it is similar to the Fire Flower but instead of fireballs, the Mii shoots iceballs from their hands that instantly freeze enemies.
Mini Mushroom
Turns the Mii tiny, being small has its perks at the expense of dying in one hit.
Penguin Suit
Unlike the one from Wii Fit, this Penguin Suit has the added abilities from the Ice Flower, allowing the Miis to shoot iceballs from their hands as well as the ability to slide on their belly.
Propeller Mushroom
Turns the Mii into Propeller Mii, allowing the Mii to fly straight into the air for a short while before falling back down.
Starman / Invincibility Star
Turns the Mii invincible for a short time.
P-Acorn
Similar to the Super Acorn, the P-Acorn allows the Miis to fly indefinitely.
“Mario Kart” Items
The Miis since Mario Kart Wii have stayed as playable characters in the Mario Kart series. In the games, there are several different items the racers can obtain from item boxes in order to trip other racers up. For this blog we will be including every item from Mario Kart Wii to now as that is when the Miis have started to become playable characters.
There are also Tour items that were originally exclusive to certain characters (similar to in Double Dash) but the Miis can use them as well by wearing certain themed racing suits. Those will be included as well.
Minifigures
Fire Axe
Seen in Lego Creator, they are used by the firefighters in order to break down barricades.
Pizza and Knife
(your loss is today’s sauce)
Seen in Lego Creator, obligatory Spider-Man 2 joke
Sword and Shield
Seen in Lego Creator: Knights’ Kingdom and Lego Battles, it is used for basic offense and defense. Not much else to say.
Mobile Trebuchet
Seen in Lego Creator: Knights’ Kingdom and Lego Battles, the trebuchet (or catapult) is used to launch Minifigures as well as objects great distances or heights.
Vaulting Pole
Seen in Lego Creator: Knights’ Kingdom. It allows the Minifigures to launch themselves across long distances, and in this case, over walls.

Lego Racers has items designated by which brick you drive into. There are four brick colors: Green, Red, Blue, and Yellow, each with four different items that can be upgraded by collecting white Lego bricks along the race track.
Green Boost Bricks
Red Projectile Bricks
Blue Shield Bricks
Yellow Hazard Bricks
“Lego Racers 2” Items
The items you can get in Lego Racers 2 are different from its predecessor. The “collecting white bricks to get a better item” schtick is dropped for this game and there are only 7 items unlike the previous game’s 16.
Soccer Ball
The key component of Soccer Mania, the Minifigures are able to kick, pass, and shoot the soccer ball into each other’s goals.
idk what to tell you, it’s a soccer ball
“Soccer Mania” Power-Ups
Of course, Soccer Mania also has its fair share of power-ups that can affect the course of the game.
“Lego Battles” Unit-Specific Weapons
Lego Battles is a strategy game on the Nintendo DS that follows various stories across different time periods. Each time period follows a certain war between two factions. Each their own unique units with weapons and abilities associated with said units (more on the latter later in the blog). From Medieval Times, to pirates, to aliens. The weapons the Minifigures have used include the following:
Note: As mentioned in the “Before We Start” section, we will not be including the weapons used by named characters. The same applies to this game so units such as Captain Blackbeard, Governor Broadside, Camilla, King Kahuka, Biff, Gemma, and even Santa, will not be included.
Sword: Used by the King, Queen, and Knight units
Hammer: Used by the Builder units to build structures
Axes: There are two versions of the axe. The ones used by the Guardsman units are tall with a small blade while the ones used by the Dwarf units are shorter but have a bigger blade.
Bow and Arrow: Used by the Archer, Islander, and Forestman units
Pickaxe: While not used in-game, the Dwarfs are able to wield a pickaxe in order to mine ores.
Staff: Used by the Wizard unit to allow him to use magic
Shovel: Used by the Builder (Wizard Faction) units
Mace: Used by the Skeleton units
Crossbow: Used by the Crossbowman units
Scythe: Used by the Skeleknight units

Katana: Used by the Ninja Master unit
Shurikens: Used by the Ninja units
Space Blaster: Used by the Space Police Captain and Space Police units
Wrench: Used by the Trooper units
Big Laser Gun: Used by the Commando units, it acts the same as the Space Blaster, just bigger in size and has a cool revolving chamber at the front.
Mech: Used by the Gripley unit. It’s a semi-large mech used to traverse the surface of Mars. Equipped with big mechanical claw hands.
Lantern: Used by the Ghost unit
Revolver: Used by the Sheriff unit
Walkie Talkie: Used by the “Classic Space” unit
Backpack
From Lego Universe, your Minifigure’s backpack acts as an inventory to store your various items, weapons, bricks, etc. At the start of the game, all players start out with only 20 slots. However, as you unlock achievements and level up, the backpack can have a total of 182 slots.
“Lego Universe” Weapons, Items, and Armor
Being an MMORPG, Lego Universe comes with a plethora of various items, weapons, gear, etc. for your Minifigure avatars to equip and use in combat. Some items have extra benefits to them.
Special Weapons
Smashing Weapons
Poking Weapons
Slashing Weapons
Two-Handed Weapons
Ranged Weapons
“Left-Handed” Items (Weapons are held in the right hand)
Clothing / Armor Pieces
Consumables / Everlasting Items
In Lego Universe, you can collect numerous different “consumables” which allow you to gain certain stat buffs during combat, as well as gain health (or Life as it’s called in-game) and Imagination back with certain consumables. There are certain consumables like the Armor Polish that restore Armor (Lego Universe’s version of defense). Despite the classification, some consumables don’t require the user to well… consume them. Some of these items can be dropped or thrown towards enemies.
Everlasting Items are different as they can be used multiple times and will stay in your inventory after use.

Everlasting Items
“Lego Universe” Faction Specialty Weapons
The Factions in Lego Universe are essentially like your Hogwarts house in retrospect. You can choose between the 4 Factions: The Sentinels, Paradox, Assembly, or the Venture League. Note: The Space Ranger, Shinobi, Inventor, and Adventurer’s Valiant Weapons don’t have information on them in terms of special abilities thus they will be excluded here.
“Lego Worlds” Tools
Lego Worlds is a sandbox-type game where you, the player, can use different tools to build and customize the world around in an almost infinite number of ways.
Discovery Tool
The Discovery Tool lets you scan various models of brick structures and character / animal models. You can then place these models anywhere you want or shoot them out into the horizon (if you’re a psychopath).
Paint Tool
The Paint Tool lets you change the color of any surface. Pick a color and use the Paint Tool to cover any brick in that color.
Build Tool
The Build Tool allows you to build. WOW! Using the Build Tool lets you place blocks and other Lego pieces down to create almost anything.
Copy Tool
The Copy Tool is used to copy structures much more efficiently. Using the tool creates a giant holographic cube that can be changed in size and can be used to duplicate any structure within the cube, and place it anywhere.
Landscape Tool
The Landscape Tool lets you mold the land around you in various ways such as raising and sinking mountains, creating large trenches, or demolishing entire buildings.
“Lego Worlds” Items and Weapons
In Lego Worlds, there is a plethora of weapons and items at your disposal, some with their own little quirks and special abilities.
Gold Brick Unlockables and Special Items
Bows, Spears & Guns
Paint Guns
For context, these guns don’t do much damage themselves but they do paint the environment to have different effects, it is a sandbox game after all. Some paints are more useful than others. You’ll see why.
Melee Weapons
Throwable Items
Astronaut Suit
In most Lego games, the Minifigures are no rookies to space travel. They are very much equipped with a spacesuit or astronaut suit to help them navigate through the black skies of space.
In some games, the astronaut suit also acts as a means of breathing underwater. Don’t question why or how.
Diving Suit
In Lego Worlds, as a Deep Sea Diver, you wear a diving suit that is equipped with a helmet, breathing apparatus, and flippers.
Volcano Exploring Uniform
An outfit consisting of a hard hat, face mask, and yellow air tanks to help with exploring volcanic environments.
Turrets
In Lego Worlds, you can pilot a variety of turrets that let you shoot projectiles at your opponents. They are classified as “vehicles” but you can’t move while using them. So we decided to put them in the arsenal section instead as stationary weapons. They can also “auto target” at people and objects.
Health Potions
In Lego Minifigures Online, Health Potions can be used to heal your Minifigure’s health. In the in-game shop you can buy a “Mega Pack” of 100 health potions all at once!
“Lego Brawls” Weapons and Power-Ups
In the platform-fighter, Lego Brawls, there are over 77 TRILLION DIFFERENT CUSTOMIZATION OPTIONS! A fraction of those come from the various weapons and power-ups you can equip and use during combat. All of the melee weapons have the same amount of range and damage output. The real strengths however come from the various power-ups you can unlock and use. Your Minifigure can equip 2 power-ups at a time during matches, each with their own effects.
These effects can range from…
Healing yourself and/or teammates around you (via the Pizza Suit and various others)
Increasing your offense or defense over a short period of time (via the Saxophone or Hero’s Chalice respectively),
Summoning vehicles or mounts to help you in battle (the Hot Dog Cart shoots ketchup and mustard projectiles, the T-Rex runs and attacks your enemies, the Samurai X Mech from Ninjago, etc.)
Transforming nearby opponents into pigs (via the Transformation Staff)
Note: There was not a 100% list of all power-ups in the game available to us as of writing this blog and no one wanted to purchase Lego Brawls for this blog either, so the ones listed are all that we could find across multiple sources (Youtube Shorts, Articles related to Lego Brawls, etc.). Again, these are not all of the power-ups in the game, there are more than this.
Rusty
In Lego Bricktales, you are accompanied by a tiny floating robot named Rusty, created by your grandfather. Rusty is a very intelligent machine, being capable of building structures through analyzing and gathering parts lying around, hacking into technology such as your grandfather’s portal machine, and detecting signs of nearby life.
When you first meet Rusty, they had just come back after being sent into space, where they met aliens who would give them the ability to upgrade into various different forms, which you find throughout the game. These include:
A device that lets you “materialize” hidden objects from other dimensions, within a certain range
A machine with a hose that can shoot out jets of water that can also heal others
A device that shoots out lightning, mainly used to jumpstart electronics
A hoverboard that helps you travel along purple rails to get to other places
Whip
In Lego Bricktales, an archaeologist will give you a whip in the first level that will let you swing to higher places. It also makes a good weapon if Indiana Jones has anything to say about it.
“The Lego Movie Game” Items and Weapons
In both The Lego Movie Videogame and The Lego Movie 2 Videogame, There are numerous different items and weapons the player can use. As you can make your own custom character in both games, the Minifigures should have access to all of them.
Note: Some items overlap with the ones shown in Lego Worlds so to avoid repetition we will exclude those specific items and weapons.
Core / Story Items
Swords
Staffs
Spears & Pointy Objects
Axes
Hammers & Maces
Guns, Firearms, and Other Ranged Weapons
Throwables
Super Items and Super Parts
Miscellaneous
“Ninjago” Items and Weapons
As probably Lego’s most popular 1st-party series, your normal Minifigures have crossed over with Ninjago plenty of times such as in Lego Worlds or Lego Universe. Because of these collabs, the Minifigures have gotten to use some of the cast's weapons and other themed items along their journey.
Abilities
Miis
Mii Physiology
Mii appearances have changed throughout many games, they started out with ball hands and no arms, then received arms, then eventually gained human proportions. Miis are capable of having altered height and weight through the Mii Maker and Tomodachi Life but that is never explored outside of those two instances, they mainly are regulated to the same body shapes in most of their appearances. The hair acts as a stiff blob with no motion across all titles anyhow. Miis also have the ability to have babies. Don’t ask us how.
Mii faces and their facial features are very interesting as they act as 2-dimensional images you can move or alter in practically any way compared to other Nintendo characters, whose faces are very clearly 3-D. This is very apparent in Miitopia where the entire premise is that the Dark Lord can steal Miis’ faces and put them onto monsters. There is also an instance where in Tomodachi Life, a Mii can be so surprised their face shoots off into space, not their head, just their face. Granted this comes from a dream, one of the features in that game, but still adds consistency.
To further add to this, your Mii isn’t limited to looking like a human. By fiddling around with settings and facial features, your Mii can look like an animal, Peter Griffin, or the goddamn Mona Lisa! The customization gets even crazier in the Switch port of Miitopia. In this game, there is an option to put makeup on your Mii and with this, the possibilities become pretty much endless.
For example, you can make your Mii look like this…
Or this.
Yeah. pretty insane.
Athleticism
Miis are extremely proficient at many different sports across their lifetime through most of their games. If they’re not seen playing sports, they’re jogging through Wuhu Island. Miis are capable of going toe-to-toe with the strongest in their fields in sports such as boxing, tennis, baseball, etc. Their athleticism isn’t limited to just the Sports franchise however. In the Wii Party series, Miis are seen running across a long highway in seconds (in the mode “Highway Rollers”), jumping over rolling barrels and logs without tiring, and are capable of doing over 99 chin-ups in 10 seconds. Not to mention their fighting capabilities in the worlds of Find Mii and Miitopia. Miis can fight various monsters such as dragons and gorilla-adjacent enemies.
In short, Miis are very much peak-human in physicality, bordering or even passing superhuman.
Hammerspace
Miis have the profound ability to pull anything they want out of thin air, usually mundane everyday objects.
Non-Physical Interaction
In some games, the Miis are able to physically attack ghosts and other ghouls with just their swords or other blunt weapons.
4th Wall Breaking / Awareness
Albeit very minimal, The Miis have some showings of 4th Wall breaking. In Tomodachi Life, when starting a new save, the first Mii you ever create (if you play the game as it was intended to) is supposed to be your “Mii Look-Alike”. After your Mii is created, they directly call you their “Look Alike” throughout the entire game. Miis in Tomodachi Life also have access to your 3DS’ camera to take photos of you.
It isn’t on the insane levels of Deadpool to where the Miis can mess with the fabric of reality and fiction but they are at least aware of the 4th Wall and can use it to communicate with the player. Even if we can’t really communicate back.
Magic
In Find Mii, Miis have the ability to cast magic, each with their own unique property depending on the Mii’s favorite colour.
Red: Casts fire magic
Orange: “Invigorates heroes”, allowing them to get in an extra sword strike
Yellow: Brings in a sandstorm, lowers accuracy, and disperses poison gas
Lime: Put enemies to sleep for a random amount of time
Green: Doubles the level of the next hero
Light Blue: Freezes all enemies
Blue: Casts water magic
Purple: Poisons all enemies, deals one damage to them at the end of each turn
Pink: Makes your heroes “full of daring”, attacks will always land a critical hit at the cost of attack accuracy
Brown: Summons a random coloured bunny hero, either the level of the summoner or one level below the summoner
White: Lights up the room
Black: Darkens the room
Personality Quirks
In Miitopia, you can choose what personality type to give your Miis. These personalities have their own unique perks related to how your Mii acts during battle and in relation to your other Miis. As shown above, there are 7 main personalities: Kind, Energetic, Laid-back, Cool, Airheaded, Stubborn, and Cautious. Each quirk has a percentage of happening depending on the current situation. These quirks also do not consume MP.
Kind
Energetic
Laid-Back
Cool
Airheaded
Stubborn
Cautious
Assist Skills
In Miitopia, there are Assist Skills you gain after increasing your friendship level with another Mii to a certain number whether in battle or at the inn. Most of the skills can be ranked up to Level “II” or “III” which can increase the power and probability of said skill activating in combat. These skills activate automatically in battle and do not cost MP.
Jobs & Job Skills
The shining focus of Miitopia, the various Jobs your Miis can be assigned and fight as. There are 12 total Jobs to choose from, each with their own set of unique skills that only that certain Job can use. Some skills use up MP, some don’t, and some skills activate automatically without the use of MP.
Warrior
“Wields powerful swords, and is skilled at both attack and defense.”
Mage
“Deals stupendous damage, blasting away enemies with magical might.”
Cleric
“The go-to support role. Tends to the party’s injuries with divine magic.”
Thief
“Swift as the wind, with a repertoire of skills designed to confound enemies.”
Pop Star
“Inspires the party with boundless energy and the magic of song!”
Chef
“Cooks up cures and stirs up trouble in equal parts with a trusty frying pan.”
Cat
“Dainty paws… cute little whiskers… vicious, shredding claws. Meowch!”
Imp
“Ever the cause of mischief and mayhem, but cute enough to get away with it.”
Scientist
“Applies the power of science and technology to aid you in battle.”
Tank
“A wicked weapon on wheels, packing a large cannon and plate armor.”
Princess
“Refined. Charming. Elegant. Friend and foe alike shall bow to such majesty.”
Flower
“Harnesses the power of nature to brighten up everyone’s day.”
Vampire
“This beauteous immortal flourishes the forces of darkness with flair.”
Elf
“An elf of the forest, armed with the power of an enchanted bow.”
Mii Fighter Specials
Making their appearance in the Super Smash Bros. series, the “Mii Fighters” are a trio of three fighting archetypes: Brawler, Swordfighter, and Gunner. Each Mii Fighter is equipped with their own unique set of specials that you can interchange between.
Mii Brawler
Mii Swordfighter
Mii Gunner
Final Smash Meter
A gimmick from Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. Instead of relying on waiting for a Smash Ball, there is an option to replace that with each character having their own “Final Smash Meter” which fills up over the course of battle. For the Mii Fighters, when the FS Meter hits full, it will allow them to use their Final Smash: either Omega Blitz, Final Edge, or Final Blast depending on the type of Mii Fighter.
Spirits
As a special gimmick in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, Spirits were once the iconic gaming characters you’ve grown to love, until Galeem showed up and Thanos’d the universe to which these characters became what are known as “Spirits”.
Spirits come in 2 categories: Primary and Support, and are then divided between four main levels of power: Novice, Advanced, Ace, and Legend.
Primary Spirits have access to a maximum of 3 extra slots to attach Support Spirits, some Primary Spirits have only 1 or 2 support slots and other Primaries won’t have any support slots, combined with some Support Spirits taking up more than 1 support slot (maximum being 3 of course), so it’s best to carefully choose what Spirits to equip in what situation. Some Primary Spirits have their own skills attached to them but some don’t and need to be backed up with Support Spirits.
Attack Skills
Defense Skills
Recovery Skills
Mobility Skills
Item Skills

Weight Skills
As of this blog there are 1528 different named Spirits, the full list of all of them will be linked here
World of Light Skills
In the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate story mode: “World of Light”, you are equipped with a Skill Tree that allows your character to have special skills that aid you in combat, akin to the skills already given by Spirits and then some as these stats can be stacked greater with the help of Spirits.
The chart below lists all of the skills unique to the Skill Tree in the World of Light mode to avoid overlapping with the Spirits section.
Item Frenzy Mode
A mechanic in Mario Kart Tour, Frenzy Mode is when a racer gets 3 of the same item at a time. The racer is then invincible for 9 seconds. The racer can also perform mini Turbo-Boosts to gain extra speed.
Resistances
Electricity: Miis have survived being electrocuted on two separate occasions.
Transmutation: In Tomodachi Life, Miis will turn into a puddle of gray sludge upon eating their “All-Time Least Favorite” food, but will then be completely normal in the next frame. And in the Wii Party minigame: “Roll to the Goal”, the Miis are turned into large balls and can turn themselves back easily afterwards.
Emotion Manipulation and Mind Manipulation: In Miitopia, if a Mii has a Cool personality, they can use their Indifference quirks to ignore status effects such as Crying, Angry, or Terror to name a few.
Extreme Heat: As Super Mii, Miis are shown to be able to fly over the sun’s curvature without melting instantly. In Miitopia, Miis can take hits from magma slimes and burning golems, who live in the volcanic environment of Karkaton.
Miis have also been inside of literal volcanoes in both Wii Party’s Board Game Island and in Wii Sports Resort’s Swordplay Showdown mode.
Minifigures
Lego Physiology
Your standard Minifigure has evolved throughout the years. Your standard “human” Minifigures have the iconic yellow colouring on their plastic skin. However, Minifigures are built to be customized in whichever way you see fit and can be either human or non-human in appearance depending on the player, as shown in games like Lego Worlds.
When a Lego takes too much damage, it sort of just “falls apart”. Legos are able to break off pieces of their body like their arms, legs, torso, and even head without reacting or flinching. It appears in several Lego games that if a Lego has all vital pieces of them broken off at the same time (arms, legs, torso, and head), they are considered “dead” and if taken enough damage, they just kind of explode by themselves anyways, rendering them immobile.
Athleticism
Despite being made of plastic, Minifigures are fairly athletic. They have competed in various different sports including soccer, American football, swimming, tennis, mountain climbing, fencing, and many more throughout their legacy as well as practicing boxing, wrestling, ninjutsu, and just being able to move really fast in general. Not to mention the various Stromlings and other monsters they fight in Lego Universe, such as gorillas and dragons.
Hammerspace
Minifigures have the ability to pull out whatever objects they need out of thin air.
Non-Physical Interaction
In many Lego games, normal or “corporeal” Minifigures are able to harm Ghost Minifigures through physical means such as with their fists or using a weapon.
Quick-Building
No Lego game would be complete without a “Quick-Building” mechanic. The name is very straightforward, Quick-Building is how Minifigures build objects and structures in seconds with the materials lying around. Realistically, the Minifigures can make anything they want as long as they have the right amount of time and blocks.
“Lego Battles” Unit Abilities
In Lego Battles, some units are equipped with special abilities that they can use in combat or non-combat scenarios.
Note: Same when discussing the Lego Battles weapons, we will not be including the abilities used by named characters. Units such as Captain Blackbeard, Governor Broadside, Camilla, King Kahuka, Biff, Gemma, and even Santa, will not be included in this listing.
Direct Attack
Disrupt
Resupply
Buff
Miscellaneous
Clairvoyance
A one-off ability shown by the Wizard unit in Lego Battles. By using a crystal ball, the Wizard can take a glimpse at the location of the opposing Knights faction on the other side of the land.
Imagination
In Lego Universe, Imagination is a force found throughout the universe and fuels a Minifigure’s creative mind and spirit. Minifigures have an Imagination meter and certain attacks or weapons drain said meter when used. Imagination can also be restored by breaking objects, killing enemies or using certain Consumables.
“Lego Universe” Faction Specialty Abilities
In Lego Universe, each Specialty can be upgraded a rank with the max being at Rank 3. For the sake of time we’ll only look at the stats of the Rank 3 of each specialty as those are the highest stats you can obtain (also would defeat the purpose of having characters at their peak if we didn’t).
Each Specialty has their own small set of unique abilities to use in combat. Each ability has a small cooldown after use.
Knight
Samurai
Space Ranger
Space Marauder
Sorcerer
Shinobi
Engineer
Summoner
Inventor
Daredevil
Buccaneer
Adventurer
Spinjitzu
Yes, in Lego Universe, your Minifigure can learn Spinjitzu when entering the Ninjago world. The first Spinjitzu you learn is the special Imagination Spinjitzu, taught by the ninja, Neido. With Imagination Spinjitzu, you can spin around like a tornado fueled by Imagination as a charge up, and upon release you let out a burst of Imagination that attacks any foe within range. However, leaving yourself in tornado form will drain your Imagination meter. Spinjitzu is more effective against skeletal enemies.
However, Spinjitzu doesn’t just end with Imagination. You can also learn the main four elemental Spinjitzus taught by Cole, Zane, Jay, and Kai, respectively. These types of Spinjitzu can be used to fast travel through the Ninjago world through the use of Spinjitzu Lanterns, but the Minifigures can also use these elements in a battle scenario as well, functioning just like with Imagination Spinjitzu.
Earth: Allows the user to traverse underground.
Ice: Allows the user to travel around as an icy tornado. You can also charge up a tornado and release it to freeze your foes.
Lightning: Allows the user to move like a bolt of lightning.
Fire: Allows the user to zoom through the air like a fireball.
“Lego Minifigures Online” Abilities and Upgrades
Much like Lego Universe, Lego Minifigures Online was an MMORPG except this time, instead of making your own avatar, you can take Minifigures you get from those tiny mystery packets, and download them into the game to fight as. The servers shut down in 2016 so there weren't that many Minifigures available compared to today. Still a large amount though.
Each Minifigure has two special abilities next to their standard attack and each Minifigure comes with their own small skill tree to upgrade some of their capabilities. The upgrades on said skill trees differ from Minifigure to Minifigure. Abilities and Upgrades will be in separate tables, however if the upgrade is attributed to a specific Minifigure’s ability, it will be mentioned with the ability instead for organization purposes as a majority of upgrades are shared between Minifigures like attack buffs or self-healing.
Abilities
Upgrades
“Lego Brawls” Abilities
In Lego Brawls, the player has tools that are not just power-ups, they also have tools related directly to physical bare-knuckle brawling. These are…
Dash: Your Minifigure can dash in or out of the way of danger
Dash Jump: Your Minifigure can dash… in the air! WOAH!
Ground Pound: Jump in the air and then slam your blocky booty onto the ground, smacking foes away
yeah all of these are very straightforward.
Resistances
Electricity: Minifigures can be shocked continuously with electricity and be fine.
Corruption / Transmutation: In Lego Universe, your Minifigure is able to look into the “heart of the Maelstrom” through the Shadow Orb, which the leader of Paradox, Vanda Darkflame, states that “normal” Minifigures aren’t able to handle direct contact with the Maelstrom.
This is backed up when the Spider Queen destroyed the Paradox Research Facility and all of the researchers were turned into Stromlings. Meaning that your Minifigure avatar should have superior resistance to the Maelstrom’s effects than a normal Minifigure.
Vehicles
Miis
Motorboat
Seen in Wii Sports Resort, the Miis can drive a motorboat across the water. It’s also used for wakeboarding.
Canoe
Seen in Wii Sports Resort, up to 4 Miis can fit into one canoe. In the Wii Fit exercise: “Rowing Crew”, the Miis can row in a synchronized rowing canoe that can fit up to 5 Miis, one being the caller.
Power Cruiser
Seen in Wii Sports Resort, the Miis can use a Power Cruiser, or what we know it as a jet-ski. It allows the Miis to go across the water really fast.
Bicycle
Seen in Wii Sports Resort, the Miis use a bicycle for competitive cycling around Wuhu Island.
Plane
Seen and used in Wii Sports Resort and Pilotwings Resort, the Miis are able to pilot a two-person plane. In Wii Sports Resort, you can do a small boost to propel yourself forward in the plane. The plane can also shoot tiny projectiles in the “Dogfight” mode.
Hang Glider
Seen in Pilotwings Resort, the Miis can pilot a hang glider from air mobility.
Rocket Belt
Seen in Pilotwings Resort, the Miis can use a rocket belt. It’s pretty much a jetpack but with a different name.
Cycle Glider
Seen in Pilotwings Resort, the Miis can use a four-wheeled cycle glider. It’s powered by your peddling which causes the turbine in the back to lift you up into the air.
Super Rocket Belt
Seen in Pilotwings Resort, it’s like the rocket belt but better.
Turbo Jet
Seen in Pilotwings Resort, the Miis can pilot a turbo jet. It goes very fast.
Vehicle Cards
Seen in the Wii Party mode: “Globe Trot”, the Miis can buy vehicle cards that they can use to transport themselves a certain amount of spaces. For the sake of this match, the amount of spaces they can move will not matter as it is technically a game mechanic.
The Vehicle Cards you can use include…
Train
Taxi Cab
Helicopter
Airplane
Hot Air Balloon
Helicopter
Seen in the Wii Party minigame: “Chopper Hoppers”, it is a one-seater helicopter that also has a portable rope that allows other Miis to grab on. Despite its small size, it can carry a lot of Miis.
Where do the Miis go? No one knows.
Buggy
Seen in the Wii Party minigame: “Balloon Buggies”, it allows the Miis to traverse sandy environments.
Moped
Seen in the Wii Party minigame: “Delivery Duel”, While its main purpose is for transporting pizza, it serves as a good means of fast travel.
Pogo Stick
(yes we’re counting this as a vehicle shut up)
Seen in the Wii Party minigame: “Spring Time” and the Wii Party U minigame: “Pogo Battle”, it is a rather unconventional way of travel, but it goes boing boing and that’s funny.
Life Raft
Seen in the Wii Party minigame: “Paddle Pals”, it is a two-person raft that allows the Miis to traverse through bodies of water.
Flycycle
Seen and used in the Wii Party minigame: “Flycycle Team”, the Flycycle is a two-person bike with two fans attached to the top of it, of which the Miis must peddle in order for them to work.
Rocketship
Seen in the Wii Party minigames: “Lunar Landers” and “Blastronauts”. It do be a large rocketship. Its rocket power allows it to fly from the moon to Earth’s atmosphere in 3 seconds.
Bobsled
Seen in the Wii Party minigame: “Bobsled Highway”, it is a two-person bobsled that lets the Miis zoom through icy terrain with ease.
Makeshift Helicopter
Seen in the Wii Party U minigame: “Twisted Flight”, it is the objectively worse helicopter that requires you to twist the rubber bands on either side to make it propel into the air in the first place.
African Animals
Seen in the Wii Party U minigame: “Safari Hustle”. Before you start the race, you can choose from one of four animals: Zebra, Ostrich, Rhino, and Giraffe. Each animal has their own pros and cons relating to stamina, normal speed, and “full speed”.
Skateboard
Seen in the Wii Party U minigame: “Ramped Up”, it is in fact just a skateboard. Nothing else to note.
Unicycle
Seen in the Wii Party U minigame: “Cliff Riders”. The Miis are able to ride a unicycle across a narrow bridge over a chasm. Why they are riding a unicycle over the Grand Canyon is anyone’s guess.
Tanks
Seen in the Wii Party U minigame: “Operation Sandbox”, one Mii controls a giant tank and while the other three Miis control smaller tanks. Each tank is capable of shooting spiked balls to damage each other. The big tank shoots large, smaller, spiked balls while the smaller tanks shoot faster but smaller spiked balls.
UFO
Seen in the Wii Party U minigame: “UFO Zap-Up”, the solo Mii pilots a UFO that comes with a tractor beam that sucks up the opposing three Miis.
Pirate Ships
Seen in the Wii Party U minigame: “Blast Panels”, the Miis are able to shoot large cannonballs at each other if they solve a series of puzzles. The solo Mii’s pirate ship has one big cannon while the other three Miis share one ship with three separate cannons.
Cow
Seen in the Wii Play minigame: “Charge!”, the Mii controls a cow in order to knock out scarecrows.
Spaceship
Seen in the Wii Play Motion minigame: “Star Shuttle”, the Mii pilots a ship equipped with thrusters to help it move in certain directions. It is used to bring pieces to the space station to help fix it.
“Mii Force” Spaceship and Mii Pods
In the StreetPass game: “Mii Force”, the Mii pilots a spaceship (sound familiar?) that can be equipped with special pods that are piloted by Miis in your StreetPass Plaza. Each Mii Pod has a different weapon attached to them based on that Mii’s favorite color.
Red: Blazing Flame
Essentially a big flamethrower.
Orange: Piercing Laser
It’s a laser that fires in a straight line.
Yellow: Lightning Launcher
Shoots a ball of lightning that explodes when it hits an enemy, Leaving smaller bolts of lightning that can attack nearby enemies.
Lime: Ensnaring Plasma
Used for grabbing enemies and objects. It can also damage enemies as well as hit enemies through walls.
Green: Bouncing Ball
A green ball that bounces off of enemies and objects.
Light Blue: Rippling Wave
Shoots out pulses of energy. Good for dealing with groups of enemies.
Blue: Hunting Shark
It’s an actual shark. The shark can track down and home in on enemies after it has been shot out.
Purple: Annihilating Charge
A charged energy blast that gets bigger and more powerful the longer it has been charged.
Pink: Sticky Shot
Shoots a glob that travels along surfaces to hit enemies.
Brown: Harpoon Gun
Shoots out a spike forward. It can also develop a Multi-Spike Shot that shoots out 3 spikes at once, as well as deflect enemy projectiles.
White: Cosmic Cutter
Shoots out a metal saw that acts as a boomerang and returns to sender. The Larger Cutter can not be repelled by projectiles.
Black: Bomb Blaster
Shoots out a bomb which explodes in a few seconds. The pod can shoot out 3 different types of bombs: Small, Medium, and Large. Each bomb having their own explosion yields.
Samus’ Gunship
In Nintendo Land, when playing the game: “Metroid Blast”, the player can pilot Samus’ Gunship and shoot out missiles.
Blue Falcon
In Nintendo Land, when playing the game: “Captain Falcon’s Twister Race”, the player can pilot Captain Falcon’s iconic Blue Falcon.
Horse
(Petah, the horse is here)
Horses have shown up in a couple of games such as Wii Party in the minigame “Derby Dash”. However the one we’ll focus on is the one from Miitopia, the Switch port that is. In Miitopia, the horse acts as a sort of fifth party member as it has ways to harm enemies and aid the Miis with different skills such as kicking and mounted attacks. It can also even grow wings during special “Horse Whispering” skills. These skills can be achieved through leveling up friendship with the horse, some even having their own “II” and “III” variants.
The horse has many unique skills of their own, such as the following:
Dominic the Dragon
Seen in Miitopia, after freeing him from the control of the Dark Lord, the party befriends a dragon named Dominic. Dominic transports the party between areas by carrying them across the sky.
While under the Dark Lord’s control, Dominic could breath fire and let out a roar that damages opponents and gives them the Terror status effect, meaning they can’t do anything for one turn.
“Mario Kart” Vehicles
Outside of the mainline games, the Miis have been mainstay characters in the Mario Kart series since Mario Kart Wii. The racing vehicles you can ride come in 3 types: Kart, Bike, and ATV. Each vehicle is equipped with its own glider that helps the driver when they are airborne and can drive on walls by driving over a blue antigravity panel on the track.
For the sake of time and energy, we are not naming EVERY vehicle the Miis can reasonably get, so we will only give them the Standard vanilla version of each type, as nothing really changes stat-wise.
Kart
The standard go-kart that the series is known for.
Bike
A skinner and more tricky to maneuver. Be careful drifting.
ATV (All-Terrain Vehicle)
As the name implies, it is a vehicle that works on most if not all terrain.
Glider
Allows the driver to fly over gaps and chasms or safely deploy to the ground.
Mercedes Benz
ZAMN!!! The Miis got that money money fr fr
no but seriously, Mario Kart 8 did a collab with Mercedes Benz and we are giving them to the Miis and you can’t stop us.
Minifigures
Car
Minifigures have driven many cars in their lifetime, this one is the most bland. From Lego Creator, It’s a simple yellow car, with no roof. It’s kind of dumb looking honestly.
Recycling Truck
Seen and used in Lego Creator, this is your daily reminder to recycle, kids.
Construction Vehicle
Seen and used in Lego Creator, it’s an ambiguous construction vehicle used for… construction.
Phone Service Car (?)
Seen and used in Lego Creator, a vehicle that looks like it’s for getting radio signals, or phone service, or wifi. Either way, it’s a car.
Truck
Seen in Lego Creator, it’s a large yellow truck.
Car-Carrier Truck
Seen and used in Lego Creator, a truck used for carrying cars if they need to be recycled or delivered somewhere.
Excavator
Seen and used in Lego Creator, used for cleaning up, picking up, and dropping large amounts of rubble and bricks.
Horse
Seen and used in Lego Creator: Knights’ Kingdom and Lego Battles, used as a trusty steed in the heat of battle.
Attack Tower
Seen and used in Lego Creator: Knights’ Kingdom, it’s a weird ahh contraption that a group of knights built in order to sneak into the opposing kingdom’s castle. It requires a minimum of three Minifigures in order to use it (one at the top, and two to push)
Chariots
Seen and used in Lego Creator: Knights’ Kingdom, the chariots come in two forms: one with axes at the front, and another with a flamethrower at the front. Both chariots are equipped with spears at the ready.
Dragon
Seen and used in Lego Creator: Knights’ Kingdom as well as Lego Battles, the Minifigures are capable of not only raising dragons, but can also train them and ride them into combat. They are able to breathe fire and fly.
Race Car
In the Lego Racers games, you can customize your own driver and race car. It’s mostly for show but in Lego Racers 2, you can also drive a truck, a vehicle with tank-like treads or even skis. your race car can even be given upgrades. Such as:
Grip: Improves steering and manages how much your car slides
Power: Controls your car’s speed and its ability to drive up hills or mountains
Shield: Improves the durability of your car and how much damage it can take
Transport Ship
Seen in Lego Battles, it’s a giant ship used to transport supplies and people. It comes in undead, pirate, and medieval variants as well.
Dwarf Glider
Seen in Lego Battles, it’s a makeshift plane piloted by the Dwarf minifigures.
Skeleton Horse
In Lego Battles, the Skeleknight units are seen riding a bone horse rather than a normal alive horse like other units.
Siege Tower
Seen in Lego Battles, it’s a mobile battle tower with one axe on each side of the tower. It also is equipped with a crossbow on the top.
Pirate Ships
The Minifigures have a pirate variant of the normal “Transport Ships”. In some games, such as Lego Universe, they even come equipped with a cannon that shoots small cannonballs at opposing ships.
Ninja Flying Ship
Seen in Lego Battles, it’s a canoe-like ship with wings used for flying piloted by ninjas.
Claw Tank
Seen in Lego Battles, it’s a tank used to traverse around Mars’ surface.
Starfighter
Seen in Lego Battles, an aircraft used for space travel.
Starship 1
Seen in Lego Battles, it’s a bigger aircraft used for space travel.
Transport Ship (in Space this time)
Seen in Lego Battles, similar to the other transport ships, but this one is in space so it’s different.
Space Police Cruiser
Seen in Lego Battles, it’s a spacecraft used by the space police.
Rocket
Used in Lego Universe, it is a miniature one-person rocket and is the only way to travel to all the various Worlds (not to be confused with the game Lego Worlds).
“Lego Worlds” Vehicles
Being a sandbox-type game, Lego Worlds has a plethora of various different vehicles scoured throughout the lands that you can use.
Aircrafts
Ground Vehicles
Horse-Drawn Vehicles
Push-Powered Vehicles
Tracked Vehicles
Hovercrafts
Watercrafts
Utility Vehicles
“The Lego Movie Game” Vehicles
A collection of vehicles that you can summon with the Builder Page in The Lego Movie 2 Videogame.
Note: Same as before, if a vehicle has already appeared in Lego Worlds, it will be excluded from this section.
Forms
Miis
Super Mii
Seen in the many Wii Party minigames centered around space. As Super Mii, the Miis gain super strength and can fly at high speeds through the cosmos. This form also makes an appearance in the Wii Party mode: Globe Trot, where Miis use this form in order to travel to countries quickly via a “Super Mii Card”. Super Miis have been shown to throw meteors, UFOs, and spaceships. As well as be able to survive flying around the curvature of the sun.
Zombie
The main focus of the objectively best Wii Party minigame: “Zombie Tag”. The main premise of the minigame is that the four player Miis must avoid the three zombies and not get caught. If they get caught, they’ll turn into a zombie and the game keeps going once there is only one non-zombie player left. The zombie Miis have two main properties:
Once a non-zombie Mii gets touched, they instantly turn into a zombie.
The zombies don’t have any notable weakness other than once the minigame ends and the sun comes out, the zombies will revert back into normal Miis.
Mermaid
Appearing in the Wii Party minigame: “Pearl Plunder”. Miis have a mermaid form that lets them swim and breathe underwater without the need for advanced equipment like a diving suit or snorkel. In the minigame, the Miis can survive being stung multiple times by jellyfish and keep swimming. During the results/win screen, the Miis turn back to normal, implying that they can only take this form while in the water.
Ghost
In Nintendo Land, when playing the game: "Luigi's Ghost Mansion", one player becomes a ghost while trying to defeat the other 4 players.
When the lights are off, the Ghost Mii is completely invisible. The Ghost Mii is very much vulnerable to light as it is visibly harmed by your flashlight’s… light.
The last ability of the Ghost Mii is that it has “magic”. It’s nothing insane but the ghost can charge up and create portals that will open up, releasing several apparitions upon the other Miis. If a Mii holding a flashlight steps on this portal, the battery of their flashlight will immediately drop to zero.
Minifigures
Skeleton
Skeleton Minifigures are notable enemies in most Lego games, often acting as enemies that die in a few hits or as lackeys for more powerful forces such as the Wizards in Lego Battles. They can be summoned from under the ground.
In Lego Worlds, they are weak to sunlight but are also able to breathe and walk underwater, likely due to them already being dead.
Ghost
Ghost Minifigures are able to float, walk through walls, and even glow in the dark. In Lego Worlds, ghosts are granted immunity to toxic slime but are more vulnerable to black weapons and the sun.
Dwarf
Dwarves are mostly just normal Minifigures except shorter. Commonly seen wielding weapons almost bigger than them like battle axes or hammers.
Troll
The Troll Minifigures are ferocious warriors and are a suitable ally to the Wizards faction in Lego Battles. In Lego Worlds, variations of the trolls like the Troll King and Troll Queen are vulnerable to golden weapons.
Alien
Alien Minifigures have a few different appearances but one thing is for sure that they are very intelligent, capable of creating their own tech and weapons such as energy blasters and summoning UFOs.
Robot
Robot Minifigures appear to move and act on their own free will. There are two different designs for the robot: the one you see on the image up top with a giant claw-like arm bigger than the other, and the other one that has a more toy-like appearance called the “Clockwork Robot”.
In Lego Worlds, Robots are able to walk and survive underwater. Guess they’re waterproof.
Fairy
Fairy Minifigures are equipped with wings to help them fly as well as a wand to perform magical attacks, one of which being wish-granting. Fairies are able to summon flies for frogs and even turn rocks into princes.
Mech(s)
A much more technologically advanced Minifigure in comparison to the Robot. There are a total of three Mech-based Minifigures, each with their own unique arsenal.
The “Battle Mech” is equipped with rockets that it can shoot from its back. The “Evil Mech” is equipped with a blaster and was built with a “nano-coating” that lets it sneak through forcefields and scanners undetected. Lastly, the “Laser Mech” has digital wings on its back and holds an “electro-sword”. The Laser Mech has been stated to possess a “digi-tronic super-computer brain and an amped-up neutron-fusion heart”, whatever that means.
Cyclops
The Cyclops is a one-eyed monster that can shoot a laser from its big eyeball and primarily uses a large stone club to whack enemies.
He’s also secretly a poet.
Mermaid
The Mermaid is capable of manipulating the water, summoning waves that crash onto anyone in her way.
She doesn’t appear to change form while on land.
Gingerbread Man
No your eyes are not deceiving you, that is a real, walking-talking, Gingerbread Man.
What does he taste like? Probably plastic.
Square Foot / Yeti
Square Foot is Lego’s version of Bigfoot (big surprise I know), a big monster covered in fur and often has a camera that it uses to take photos of people. Karmic irony at its finest.
The Yeti however is almost exactly like Square Foot but instead of a camera, it’s a popsicle. The Yeti also has minor showings of cryokinesis allowing it to create and throw snowball projectiles and make the floor icey around him.
Genie
The Genie Minifigure is capable of creating magic projectiles and can seal herself away in her lamp to avoid attacks. Obviously as a genie, she can grant wishes (she is a “Professional Wish Consultant after all) but sometimes said wishes aren’t exactly accurate.
She can still create whatever the wisher desires out of thin air. Like an entire castle, give you superpowers, etc. You just need to be VERY specific with what you want.
Goblin
The Goblin is a mischievous gremlin that steals the bricks from other Minifigures and stores it in its bag. It also wields a scimitar
Banshee
The Banshee isn’t your average spirit. Aside from their signature wail, their description says that they are able to warn people about their misfortune such as telling them they’re going to stub their toe or misplace an item.
Fly Monster
Once a normal housefly, it has now mutated into a half-fly, half-Minifigure abomination. It has a red claw for a hand and has the ability to spread poisonous goop everywhere.
However, the downside is it still has the mind of a fly and has been seen flying into windows and the like
Gargoyle
The Gargoyle is made of pure stone and likes to sleep perches on the roofs of buildings. However, even if it has wings, it can’t fly due to its weight. Although, its stone body makes it so it is extremely durable.
Spectre
The Spectre Minifigure can phase through walls and has been stated of being capable of dropping the temperature of a room just by being there. It’s main weapon is a chain that it likes to rattle to scare its victims.
Plant Monster
Once a normal houseplant, after receiving too much extra-growth fertilizer from the Monster Scientist, it suddenly mutated and grew to Minifigure-size. It likes to capture and eat any Minifigure that is in its vicinity and unsurprisingly can control plants and summon various roots and vines out of the ground to attack enemies
Werewolf / Wolf Guy
Werewolves have the ability to jump extra high compared to most other Minifigures and are known for both attacking with their sharp claws and being weak to silver-based weapons.
They are also shown to hit enemies with a comically large bone. Don’t question where they got it from.
Zombie
Ah yes, the classic zombie. Although they appear braindead, they are fairly reliable in the workforce as there have been zombies working as businessmen, cheerleaders, or even a pirate.
In Lego Worlds, they are capable of surviving underwater, likely for the same reason as the Skeleton, as well as being vulnerable to black weapons.
Mummy
Mummy Minifigures might as well just be zombies but covered in bandages. Nothing really to say here.
Vampire
Vampire Minifigures are able to turn themself into a bat to fly around and have the ability to passively regenerate their health.
Spider Lady
Similarly to the vampire, the Spider Lady is able to attack foes with what looks like cobwebs made of blood. She can also turn herself into a tiny red spider to move around.
Bat Monster
(holy shit Man-Bat!?)
Similar appearance to a vampire just without the mental stability and looks more like a bat. They can fly and that’s about it.
Witch
Very skilled in magic, the Witch rides on her broomstick and spreads chaos across the land, sometimes turning enemies into frogs. Witch Minifigures are weak to black weapons.
Faun
The Faun is a goatman who has the ability to heal others with the power of song produced by his flute.
Minotaur
With the head of a bull, the Minotaur is incredibly powerful but is vulnerable to golden weapons.
Scarecrow
The Scarecrow is capable of controlling and fighting with murders of crows. Much like a majority of the other Minifigures in this section, the Scarecrow can survive underwater.
Swamp Creature
As the creature that lives in the swamp, the Swamp Creature Minifigures is perfectly able to breathe underwater as well as having immunity to toxic slime. The Swamp Creature however is weak to golden weapons.

Can likely scale to Duke Exeter who can react to, defend, and reflect bolts of lightning from the Maelstrom
He later moves in the way of one of these lightning bolts at point-blank range (Mach 171.93 - Mach 771.95)
The lightning generated from the Maelstrom is likely comparable to real cloud-to-ground lightning due to the Maelstrom’s effects being shown to be capable of changing the weather. Such as turning the sky cloudy, and generating fog and high winds.
In Lego Minifigures Online:
Can dodge / move in-tandem with blasts from the Alien Queen’s “Photon Blaster” (Lightspeed) (Debatable)

In Lego Bricktales:
Scaling
Miis
Sportsmates
The Sportsmates are the main avatars of the Nintendo Switch Sports game as a replacement for the Miis for marketing purposes. Miis are still an option as an avatar in the game but lack the ability to wear facial and hair accessories unlike their MySims-wannabe counterparts. The Miis and the Sportsmates all participate in the same sports from the game and can match each other evenly in all physical qualities.
The Dark Lords & The Dark Curse
The main boss(es) of Miitopia, the Dark Lord, wreaked havoc across the land (also named Miitopia), stealing the faces of all the Miis and slapping them onto various monsters.
The Dark Lord is not the same person each time however, they are each possessed by an entity known as the Dark Curse (the blue sperm at the bottom of the image). After the original Dark Lord was defeated, the Dark Curse moved onto its new host, possessing the one they call “the Great Sage”, becoming the Darker Lord. Later on as the more powerful Darkest Lord.
Your Mii party has fought and defeated every single form of the Dark Lord, and in one of the two story endings to Miitopia, destroys the Dark Curse for good.
The Dark Lord creates the monsters that roam Miitopia
This would make them superior to sentient lightning clouds
The Darker Lord created “Otherworld”, a pocket dimension containing stars and several planets (16.88 ExaFOE) (Debatable, See “Before the Verdicts”)
The Darkest Lord uses a move called “Big Bang”, which all the party members can survive with 1 HP remaining (Debatable, See “Before the Verdicts”)
Super Smash Bros.
Possibly one of the greater sources of scaling for the Miis. Because the Miis are playable in the form of Mii Fighters, they should be comparable to everything that happens inside of the Super Smash Bros. series. Note that this scaling only talks about feats that happen in the game itself, no cross-scaling to the original games these characters come from.
This is important for two reasons:
Some series in Smash have their own questionable and/or debatable stats (Bayonetta, Sonic the Hedgehog, Final Fantasy, etc.) which would then take away from the original debate, leading into a downward spiral
Saying that the Miis scale to Bayonetta or Cloud and their respective series just because they coexisted in one crossover fighting game (two if you count Smash 4 and Ultimate as separate games) is very redundant and unnecessary.
So yes, note that we are only covering feats that happen inside of the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate game itself, and no feats that occur in the characters’ series outside of Smash will be included.
Many fighters can react to Pikachu and Pichu’s lightning-based attacks
Galeem spread its light across the entire Smash universe (Universal) (20 Quadrillion c / 20 Quadrillion times SoL)
Kirby was able to outrace these beams with his Warp Star
Galeem and Dharkon are equal to each other, with everyone in the cast being able to defeat them both at the same time
Sephiroth even slices Galeem in half in his reveal trailer
Every fighter in the cast can theoretically survive every Final Smash, this includes…
Ness and Lucas’ “PK Starstorm” (75.5 Megatons of TNT)
Ice Climbers’ “Iceberg”
Palutena’s “Black Hole Mega Laser”
Sephiroth’s “Supernova” (550.95 KiloFOE)
Super Mario
The Miis are no short of crossovers with the Mario cast as they have been unlockable characters in both mainline and spin-off games. As Shigeru Miyamoto put it in an interview, the Mario series does not have a clear canon but it is all still the same Mario, so it makes sense for the Miis to not only scale to the Mario cast in games they have appeared in, but also games they haven’t across the series’ vast history within reason (excluding 3rd-party crossovers like the Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games and Mario & Rabbids series of course, even if the Miis do appear in the former).
Mario punted Larry’s castle
Bowser punched a castle across the planet (2.7 Teratons of TNT)
The Power Stars can create constellations (7.62 FOE)
Power Stars have been able to take Mario from the Trial Galaxies back to Rosalina’s observatory in short time frames (66.65 - 112.8 Quadrillion c / 66.65 - 112.8 Quadrillion times SoL)
Baby Power Stars (AKA Lumas) can transform into entire galaxies (Galaxy Level)
Multiple Lumas gathered together to reverse a black hole caused by Bowser’s Galaxy Reactor, turning it into what looks like a Big Bang (Universal) (Debatable, See “Before the Verdicts”)
Rosalina kicked a soccer ball to another planet and back (65.9c / 66x SoL)
Wario defeated the Shake King, who dispersed a large cloud formation upon his defeat (18.437 Kilotons of TNT)
The Mario Party 3 cast have fought and beaten the Millenium Star, who traveled from the center of the universe to the Mushroom Kingdom (41.1 Trillion c / 41.1 Trillion times SoL)
Minifigures
The Maelstrom and Stromlings
As the main threat in the Lego Universe game, the Minifigures can naturally fight and defeat different variations of the monsters known as Stromlings, created by the Maelstrom. Feats performed by certain species of Stromlings can naturally scale back to the Minifigures. However, the full power of the Maelstrom itself is up for contention. You’ll understand why later in the blog.
Maelstrom Dragons and other Stromlings can part clouds and destroy parts of buildings
The Spider Queen blew up the Paradox Research Facility
The Spider Queen can generate a massive Maelstrom Fog (17.32 Kilotons of TNT)
The Maelstrom’s effects can make the sky cloudy
The Maelstrom opened a hole in the middle of Nimbus Square
When the Maelstrom was first formed, it caused Planet Crux to explode into several smaller “Worlds” (See “Before the Verdicts”)
The Maelstrom poses a threat to the entire Lego Universe (Inapplicable, See “Before The Verdicts”)
Pepper Roni
(he’s doing his best)
Pepper Roni, the “Dude with the Food” is the main protagonist of the Lego Island series as well as the main protagonist of Lego Island 2: Brickster’s Revenge and Lego Island Xtreme Stunts. He was actually brought in by the Infomaniac from the real world. As Pepper doesn’t possess any extraordinary abilities himself, it is within reason for the Minifigure avatars to scale to him.
Also where else are you going to see Lego Island be discussed in a VS Blog?
Can destroy Brickster-Bots with only pizzas (0.0096 Tons of TNT)
Scales to the Brickster who…
Breathed fire hot enough to melt and open his prison cell door
Survived a really high fall after the mountain beneath him collapsed
Was capable of wielding the Constructopedia
Pages from the Constructopedia can deconstruct and reconstruct entire buildings
Arguably scales than the Infomaniac, who…
Got hit by a Brickster-Bot and was sent flying into the Information Center
Stated to have built Lego Island “a zillion years ago” (Island Level?) (Debatable)
Whether you believe this is referring to the entire island itself or just the structures and roads on top is up to interpretation. We recommend you don’t take this feat too seriously.
Lego City Undercover
Lego City is a MASSIVE part of Lego’s vast lore, and in it lives the headstrong police officer, Chase McCain. Chase is the star of his own line of games: Lego City Undercover and Lego City Undercover: The Chase Begins. You can create your own custom Minifigure in the game and because of that, we can reasonably scale them to Chase and various other characters in the series.
Chase can react to and dodge debris while falling back down to Earth
Chase throws Tony “Knuckles” McGee into a basketball hoop and shatters it
Chase and Rex Fury wrestled each other down a flight of stairs
Rex Fury survived atmospheric re-entry and crashed through the roof of a house
The Lego Movie
Due to being playable in both video games that are loosely based off of the original movies, the Minifigures should scale to the events that happen in the original movies. Meaning that scaling to Emmet, Wyldstyle, Batman, and co. should be fair game.
Same rules regarding Smash scaling apply to this section as well, “only scale to the events in the story itself, no scaling to the original media 3rd-party characters come from (that being games like the Lego Batman and Lego DC series specifically), yadda yadda yadda”, However rules here are much easier to justify given that even if it is a crossover between multiple Lego IPs (3rd-party included), the versions that show up in The Lego Movie are completely different and separate characters compared to other Lego versions of said characters, one of the most glaring cases being Batman as shown in Lego Dimensions.
Wyldstyle has reacted to and dodged several lasers (Lightspeed)
These have been directly stated to be lasers and don’t have any unusual characteristics that would disregard it
Benny’s spaceship was able to go from the Octan Tower to Bricksburg in a short time, he did this while dogfighting other enemies (Mach 2.57 - 40.57)
Rex Dangervest shatters a large asteroid (221.613 Tons - 2.372 Megatons of TNT)
The Batwing crashes into the “sun” (29.8 Kilotons of TNT)
The Batwing was able to fly from Gotham to the Fortress Of Solitude in half an hour (Mach 8.88)
It later made the return trip in 10 minutes (Mach 26.63)
The Bat Family and the Rogues Gallery have fought the Phantom Zone prisoners
King Kong knocked over a skyscraper
Voldemort could summon a lightning storm
The Kraken was responsible for a large fog formed over San Francisco Bay (746.86 Megatons of TNT)
Ninjago
Similar to the Super Mario series with the Miis, the Ninjago series is more than reasonable enough for scaling to the Minifigures as characters from the Ninjago series have shown up in games such as Lego Battles, Lego Universe and Lego Brawls. And despite not physically showing up in the game, having some of the main cast’s weapons in Lego Worlds. Whether it is fighting them physically or using their weapons, the Minifigures should without a doubt scale to feats shown in the Ninjago series.
Jay, Kai, Cole, and Zane dodge a laser (0.23c / 23% SoL)
Lloyd can arguably scale to The First Spinjitzu Master, who made the Realms of Creation (Low Multiversal) (Debatable, See “Before the Verdicts”)
The First Spinjitzu Master was also the one who divided the continent of Ninjago into two halves
Lord Garmadon took a hit from the Scythe of Quakes, which can form continents and move mountains
Wojira creates a storm (75 Teratons of TNT)
This is scalable due to the Amulets of Wojira being a power-up in Lego Brawls, and Minifigures can take hits from Wojira once she has been summoned
The 4 Golden Weapons combined to create the Mega Weapon and travelled to space and collided with a comet called “Delta V“ (70.1 - 564.1 Ronnatons of TNT) (1157 - 2314c / 1157 - 2314x SoL) (See “Before the Verdicts”)
Weaknesses
Miis
Being a customizable avatar, the Miis don’t really have many weaknesses. They’re competitive for sure but due to the nature of their series, that competitiveness is all in good fun at the end of the day.
However, when it comes to Miitopia, there is a little mechanic called “Resentment”. It functions as the polar opposite to the positive relationship building in the game. In battle, Miis can gain resentment towards one another whether it be from personality quirks (Stubborn Mii’s “Bluff” will cause resentment towards the Mii who offered / a Mii will have resentment towards a Laid-Back Mii if they hide behind them, letting them get hit) or through certain special skills relating to their job (A Chef’s “Spicy Dish” or “Spicy Dinner” will cause resentment to the Mii that ate it / a Tank’s “Human Cannonball” or “Wild Shot” will cause resentment to a Mii that was being used as the cannonball and/or was dealt damage on accident by the Wild Shot).
Once a Mii has reached enough resentment it will lead to what is known as a “Quarrel”. Quarrels between Miis will affect how they act in battle. Whether it be getting distracted and putting their guard down, letting themselves get hit or interrupt the turn of the Mii they have resentment towards in order to get another hit in. Full list of Quarrel effects will be linked here if you want to read through it.
Minifigures
Much like their opponent, being a customizable avatar, the Minifigures don’t really have many notable weaknesses. Most of their more supernatural or magical forms can be weakened by certain coloured weapons such as black, silver, or gold.
Lastly, as previously mentioned, Minifigures can operate without parts of their body without much trouble, but if a Minifigure takes too much damage, all of their pieces will break off at once and they are considered “dead” until put back together.
Before The Verdicts…
The Dark Lord’s True Power
A more vague part of Miitopia, at the end of the game, the Darker Lord resides in a place called Otherworld, a weird limbo where the stolen faces of Miis are sent to. The details of Otherworld’s origin are brief, with the given explanation (coming from the previous Dark Lord) being that The Dark Lord had the monsters they controlled build them a tower to give them “a place in the heavens to look down on humanity from” (this line goes hard btw). Immediately after the mention of said heavens, the former Dark Lord follows up by speaking of Otherworld. With this established, the question of whether or not the Dark Lord created Otherworld arises.
Explicit statements of whether or not this location existed before the Dark Lord are absent, but given the Dark Lord’s complete control over this place, the faces they capture are sent here, and their previous endeavors were that of securing a means to access the space of “the heavens” that they reside in, the scales lean in favor of the Dark Lord having created Otherworld. As for what this means, Otherworld appears to be connected to the Dark Lord’s Domain and the Dark Lord’s Annex, which house not only planets, but stars as well. This would mean that the Dark Lord has Multi-Solar System levels of power (16.88 ExaFOE to be exact) and the Miis fight on par with them and defeat them. However, there is the possibility that the Dark Lord’s stats, and in turn the Miis’ stats could be even higher.
One of the attacks that the Darkest Lord is capable of using is called “Big Bang” that causes all party members' HP to drop to 1. Taking this very literally, the Dark Lord is Universal in terms of power output. The issue with taking this literally is that the attack itself is functionally very different to that of an actual Big Bang. It appears as the Darkest Lord zooms in really close and a flash of light occurs and does damage. No damage is dealt to the surrounding area and there is no expansion of mass, no visual to indicate that it is comparable to a real Big Bang. This is actually somewhat consistent with another attack, the Scientist Mii’s “Black Hole”. While the ability and ability description both call it a black hole, but visually it tells a different story. Firstly, just calling it a “black hole” doesn’t automatically mean its potency is akin to that of a real one. Secondly, the visual for the attack doesn’t really show any signs of a black hole either, it just appears, does damage, then immediately disappears. So yeah the situation of “an attack that sounds impressive actually looks and behaves differently and thus can’t really be compared to the real thing” has happened more than once in Miitopia.
So where does that leave us? Well, the Dark Lord creating Otherworld seems like a safe assumption to make given contextual clues from the previous Dark Lord and your Mii party. And because this place houses multiple stars, the Dark Lord possesses Multi-Solar System levels of power.
Should the Miis get the Wii U Gamepad?
A curious case in the Miis’ arsenal is the use of the Wii U Gamepad, specifically in Wii Party U. In Wii Party U, the Wii U Gamepad has shown abilities such as summoning stone blocks to drop on opponents, setting traps, controlling technology, and opening gates. These are all in-universe abilities the Wii U can do. This specific Wii U. The problems arise when talking about whether or not the Gamepad should be given to the Miis for various reasons. First of all, the Wii U Gamepad is usually given to the Miis randomly whenever it’s convenient for them. Not to say there isn’t an otherworldly force or god in Wii Party or anything, that’s for MatPat to figure out. But the implication that the Miis don’t regularly have it and has to be given to them might give the idea that it isn’t standard to begin with.
There is also the issue of the Wii U Gamepad’s very specific and situational abilities depending on the minigame. It can theoretically do whatever the situation calls for it but assuming that it can do anything would essentially be an NLF or “No-Limits Fallacy”. Going back to the Gamepad itself, it does show up in another game, Tomodachi Life, and you want to know what it does?
It just acts as a normal console, womp womp.
The implications surrounding the Wii U Gamepad are too situational and inconsistent for us to reasonably give it to the Miis.
Minifigure Sizes
This segment is here just to clear things up for the numbers given to certain feats. The sizes of Minifigures are fairly easy to assume in that they are in fact the same size as the IRL toys, being 4 centimeters or 1.5 inches tall. In Lego Island, before the game’s story even starts, Pepper Roni is taken to the Lego world by the Infomaniac, who is the size of a real-life Minifigure. And in Lego Minifigures Online, Minifigures are seen on top of IRL Lego sets. This is also a key point in The Lego Movie where the entire movie is just kids playing with their toys so why not just use the IRL toy measurements for the calcs?
Because using these proportions would drastically alter the values of these feats. Yes, the Minifigures in-universe are in fact just toys with kids playing with them in-universe. In a VS sense, we have to look at it a bit deeper. In the Lego universe, humans are portrayed as higher beings that are manipulating the story as they see fit while the Minifigures are perceiving it as they normally do. Think of it as like in Spongebob SquarePants where the cast can interact with normal humans but can also crossover with other series that don’t have those same caveats. Which means that the Minifigures are indeed human-sized in the context of their own world and those sizes should be used for calculations accordingly for the sake of fairness.
“Lego Universe” Feats (Planet Crux, Flying Between Worlds, The Maelstrom)
Planet Crux Exploding
By far one of the most impressive feats the Minifigures have in terms of getting concrete stats. For context, the dark energy creation known as the Maelstrom was formed and overrides the Imagination Nexus on Planet Crux, causing the entire planet to explode into several “Worlds”. A feat like this is worth around over 4709.4 Exatons of TNT or Large Planet level! However, you may have seen a certain higher end to this feat. The *clears throat* “1.16 Quintillion times Universal” value or Multiversal+. This feat is frankly VERY overexaggerated.
Firstly, the context for how this end of the feat was even considered, there was a look at a collection of photos taken at an event known as LEGO Universe LUP Summit 2008 where people gathered to help work on the game. This is where the team found photos of a slideshow about Planet Crux and it uses phrases like “Imagine a Universe of Lego Worlds”, “Nexus City is the center of the Universe”, “From Nexus City, the entire Universe is before players”, etc. These statements don’t necessarily prove that the planet is universal in size. The planet being placed in the center of the universe sure but not actually the size of a universe. Secondly, Using flowery terms from a pre-development presentation isn’t the best as stuff like lore could’ve been changed behind the scenes and we have no way of proving otherwise. We can actually use the diagram from the presentation to give an estimate that Planet Crux is somewhat bigger than our own Earth as the picture depicts Planet Crux having several smaller planets inside of it (that look like a Lego-fied Earth mind you). Using the biggest planet in our solar system, Jupiter as a generous highball gives us the 4709 Exaton value mentioned earlier.
As for actually scaling this to the Minifigure avatars, you can argue that the normal Minifigures can’t scale to this as this feat was performed by “stronger” characters, and your own Minifigure is exploding into pieces after crashing their car in the same game, though that can easily be summed up as just a funny visual and nothing more. Even then, Duke, the supposedly “stronger” character in-lore compared to other Minifigures, breaks apart after getting struck by the Maelstrom’s lightning. He was later put back together by Doctor Overbuild but that sequence of events was when the Maelstrom was first forming, BEFORE the planet exploded, which Duke and the other 3 Faction leaders survive (Baron was literally inside of the Maelstrom when this happened). So it’s safe to say that durability is likely equal across all Minifigures (as inconsistent as it may be) and that this feat is fine to use for the avatars.
Your Rocket Flying Between “Worlds”
The second impressive feat from this game is your main form of transportation, your rocketship can travel to different “Worlds” in a short period of time. As the Worlds were originally a part of Planet Crux before it exploded and parts of it scattered across space, using the average planet distance of our own universe (also known as “orbital paths” seems reasonable to use. Assuming an average 8.5 seconds for the loading time to get from Point A to Point B and it gives us a value of around 220.65c or 220 times the speed of light. Very impressive but we need to clear up a few things first.
Firstly, in relation to the Planet Crux calc, using the size of a universe doesn’t work here as there is no feasible way to calc moving between Worlds when these same worlds came from one planet the size of a universe. Would you use a fraction of the universe to gauge travel? What average would we use? It just doesn’t make sense.
Secondly and lastly, this is in fact a piloting feat associated with a specific vehicle in the Minifigures’ arsenal and can’t be used for their normal travel speed. Their most reliable feat is through Duke moving in front of a lightning bolt which have the results of Mach 171.93 and Mach 771.95 respectively, giving the Minifigures Massively Hypersonic speeds without the use of crossovers.
The Maelstrom’s “Threat to the Lego Universe”
This is going to be the shortest of the three segments here as it is the most cut and dry to explain. As you may already be aware, the Maelstrom is the main antagonistic force of Lego Universe. It was created by the Imagination Nexus on Planet Crux was corrupted and it caused the planet to explode- you get the gist. It continuously summons out monsters known as Stromlings that the Minifigures have to defeat in order to keep the Maelstrom at bay before it consumes the entire universe and shrouds it in darkness if not stopped. That’s where the discrepancy comes in as yes it is a very powerful phenomenon that would eventually destroy the entire universe. Keyword: eventually.
The main thing with the Maelstrom as its destruction of the universe, as important to the plot as it is, is very clearly a feat done overtime and with no given timeframe for this event, it can’t reasonably be used for any form of speed calc, scaling, etc.
The best you can do is scale the Minifigures to the Maelstrom destroying Planet Crux at the start of its creation, which we had already brought up in the previous two segments.
Where is Lego Monkie Kid?
A question most of you reading this blog have been asking yourself is why Lego Monkie Kid has been excluded from the Minifigures’ scaling section, after all they have crossed over in Lego Brawls before. The series has great feats to potentially scale to, such as MK creating a shockwave that physically moves Jupiter, the various shenanigans with the Scroll of Memories and each scroll having multiple spacetimes within it which MK was capable of cracking and almost destroying, etc.
Now this is where the disappointing part comes in. Lego Brawls is the only crossover LMK has had where the Minifigures can realistically scale to them, the platform-fighting game. Now if you read the rules for how we examined Super Smash Bros. scaling to the Miis, you will know that in regards to scaling we only looked at feats directly shown in the series itself such as through the story mode or in-game moves like Final Smashes. Lego Brawls doesn’t really have anything like a story mode campaign or anything that can equal what we were giving to the Miis with Smash and can really only be provided as supplementary evidence. For example, scaling the Minifigures to Wojira’s storm as Wojira does show up as a stage hazard in Lego Brawls and you can take hits from her. The difference is that Ninjago has shown up in many more games compared to LMK’s single crossover to prove consistency in that scaling. If we were to use LMK scaling, it would explicitly break our own rules given to Smash scaling. Not using cross-scaling for 1 game and then using it for another would leave a double-standard. If the series had crossed over with any other game, we would allow it but as of the making of this blog, we can’t.
So while Lego Monkie Kid is an extremely powerful verse, due to the nature of the rules we laid out, we can’t realistically scale the verse to the Minifigures the same as say Ninjago or Super Mario for the Miis.
Speaking of…
Mario & Ninjago Feats
Super Mario Galaxy's Black Hole / Big Bang Debacle
Mario has had countless arguments for being Universal in levels of power, with a majority of them being debunked for varying reasons. Whether it be that they required outside help, no valid timeframe, weird dream scaling shenanigans, and of course the MANY inconsistencies with English and Japanese translations. The debunks for these feats are explained in both G1’s Bowser VS Eggman and Extinction Event’s Paper Mario VS Yuu blogs so we recommend you check those out! The lead researcher for Extinction Event Blogs, Stars actually helped work on this blog as well.
The feat we want to give attention to however is the feat that occurs in the ending of Super Mario Galaxy where one of the planets in Bowser’s Galaxy Reactor begins to explode because of the Grand Star’s power and transforms into a massive black hole, sucking up everything in the visible galaxy, possibly even the entire universe. This is until the Lumas collectively try to reverse the black hole into what appears to be a Big Bang, and rewrite the whole universe. Because this feat has already been explained in G1’s Bowser VS Eggman blog, we’ll give a brief overview of the main arguments.
Firstly, the feat itself is pretty self-explanatory. The events caused by Bowser’s Galaxy Reactor reached way beyond the center of the universe which is where the Reactor is located, Bowser says it himself. And we know it affects a majority of the other galaxies Mario has visited throughout the game as many characters Mario has visited are present on Earth after the universe got rewritten such as Honey Queen and Dino Piranha. This is also including the Trial Galaxies, which we know are located at the edges of the universe. This would mean that the black hole’s effects would have gone from the center of the universe to the ends of the universe. This is further proven with the statement about World 2 in Super Mario Galaxy 2 where the description in Japanese translates to “A New Universe”. However, there are some problems with this line of reasoning.
For one, it has never been stated that the black hole created by the Reactor affected the Trial Galaxies and it is purely assumption; for it to be universal to begin with, we’d need solid proof it actually effected the Trial Galaxies, which we don't have. Secondly, there is also no explicit confirmation that the universe in Galaxy 2 is the one created by the universe reset in Galaxy 1 and the “New Universe” statement about World 2 moreso acts as supporting evidence at best as it could be referring to how World 2 is a new universe that Mario is exploring, not necessarily concrete proof connecting the two events.
Well what about Rosalina? She brought Mario into her weird wormhole dimension when the Big Bang occurred so it’s likely that she survived the rewrite, she’s also playable in both Super Mario 3D World and various spin-offs so the cast should be directly comparable to her! It is a very solid argument, but there is also the argument of Rosalina simply using one of her barriers to survive the Big Bang. Mario and Luigi aren’t able to destroy these barriers so it’s possible that this “Universal” durability could only apply to her barriers and not Rosalina herself. However, this can easily be disproved by the fact that Peach and Bowser wake up next to Mario after the reset. They weren’t brought inside of Rosalina’s weird teal wormhole dimension thing, only Mario was. Granted we don’t have a lot of context of what happened during this scene but visibly it appears that Mario was protected by Rosalina, given a yap session about life and rebirth and wakes up in the new universe afterwards, while Peach and Bowser survived the Big Bang head-on. So even if you want to discredit Rosalina surviving it without her barriers, Peach and Bowser likely did survive without any protection and can still scale to Rosalina and vice-versa through spin-offs and Super Mario 3D World.
Lastly, we will talk about probably the easiest way to scale the cast to the black hole. Power Stars. The Lumas, the ones that reversed the effects of the black hole, are actually baby Power Stars. We know they can become whole galaxies on their own but a combined effort of multiple Lumas could rewrite the universe. This is important as Mario once defeated Bowser when the former had the power of 150 Power Stars and Power Stars are able to make you stronger the more of them you have. Mario can also fight and defeat Bowser when the latter had the power of the Grand Stars, essentially more powerful Power Stars (the Grand Stars also helped power up the Galaxy Reactor). Comparing this to the Lumas, we see a lot of Lumas in the Comet Observatory throughout Galaxy 1, but not as much as 150 at any given time. Even so, Mario has collected 880 to 999 Power Moons in Super Mario Odyssey which function similarly to Power Stars anyway (to add to this, they even gain the appearance of Power Stars in the Mushroom Kingdom but are still labeled as “Moons” in-game). Not to mention Bowser in Super Mario 64 DS could fight evenly with Mario amped by 150 Power Stars as mentioned before, without using any kind of Power Stars of his own.
But don’t worry, we didn’t forget this was about the Miis, so how can the Miis specifically scale to this? For starters, the Miis have been on adventures with Mario and his companions in both mainline and spin-offs like in New Super Mario Bros. U and the sports games so scaling should be no problem. As for Power Stars, it’s a bit shakier. Miyamoto himself said that the Mario in all of his games is the same Mario so there is a likely possibility he could still have these 150 Power Stars on him at all times. Even if he doesn’t, Bowser can fight on par with a Star-amped Mario in base so physical stats can still be comparable to the rest of the cast, Power Stars or not.
In conclusion, this feat and its scaling are far from being straightforward as it rides on a lot of assumptions and semantics such as…
The black hole affecting the Trial Galaxies
The universe in Galaxy 2 being the same recreated universe at the end of Galaxy 1
Whether or not Rosalina survived the universe reset without her barriers
Whether or not Mario keeps all the Power Stars he obtained at all times across his games
However, these arguments aren’t really make-or-break arguments as it is all about how you interpret the feat in context of the game’s overall narrative that it is trying to convey as both sides bring up good points to where you can really believe either side. All in all, whether you believe the black hole affected the Trial Galaxies or not gets the Mario cast and the Miis up to either Multi-Galaxy or Universal depending on interpretation and can be backed up by scaling to Rosalina and the Power Stars.
The Mega Weapon “Creating a Star” (it didn’t)
Possibly one of the more well known feats of the Ninjago series. In the Season 2 episode “Wrong Place, Wrong Time”, the four main ninja boys travel back in time to prevent Lord Garmadon from using the Four Golden Weapons of Spinjitzu, combined as what is known as the Mega Weapon. Their plan was to overload the Golden Weapons and shoot them off into space. The plan succeeded and the Mega Weapon blasts off into space, creating a large explosion of light and leaving behind what looks like a star in the sky. The co-creator of Ninjago, Tommy Andreasen even said on Twitter/X that the Mega Weapon did in fact create a star. So the Mega Weapon created a star, the Minifigures can wield the Golden Weapons in Lego Universe so they should be Star level, right?
It may seem cut and dry but saying the Mega Weapon created a star actually goes against what we know happened in the show proper. The Mega Weapon (and in-turn the Golden Weapons), actually collided with a comet called Delta V. This completely contradicts Tommy’s statement that the Mega Weapon specifically “became” a star. The Mega Weapon and the Four Golden Weapons of Spinjitzu are one in the same so it leaving behind a star while also being stuck to a comet doesn’t make sense. It also contradicts the transcripts from the Season 3 episodes “Project Arcturus” and “The Void” contradict this point even more as nowhere did they say that the Mega Weapon created a star. They simply say it was shot into space and when they do find it, it is attached to Delta V. Tommy even said that canon information about the show comes from the show itself, not Twitter. And he has said this more than once. If one of the creators of the show says to trust the show more than their word-of-mouth, then that’s what we should prioritize (it is likely that the Mega Weapon creating a star was the original intention but was changed to be them getting stuck to Delta V when they decided to bring the Golden Weapons back into the plot).
So where does that leave us? The Mega Weapon did not create a star. But that doesn’t mean we can’t do a re-calculation of the feat. We know that the explosion of light was likely from colliding with Delta V so we can get an estimate on 1. “How far is the comet from the planet?”, 2. “How fast did the Mega Weapon have to travel to the comet?” and 3. “How big is the colliding explosion?”.
Using an assumed 3 - 6 month time period for the comet to have reached Ninjago’s orbit combined with estimated comet speed having a velocity of around 10 - 70 km/s (we’ll average it out to 40). Using this the speed the Mega Weapon had to have traveled to reach the meteor must have reached a speed of around 1157 - 2314 times the speed of light depending on the comet’s timeframe of reaching Ninjago. Using this knowledge, the value of the explosion is much easier to figure out. Again, depending on whether the comet took 6 months or 3 months to reach Ninjago’s orbit, the explosion gets around 70 to a whopping 564 Ronnatons of TNT or coincidentally enough, Dwarf Star level (we’re not calling it Brown Dwarf level, that’s dumb).
TLDR: The Mega Weapon collided with the Delta V meteor and created a large explosion. It did not create a star but the explosion still gets around 70.1 to 564.1 Ronnatons of TNT or Dwarf Star level and thousands of times faster than light.
The First Spinjitzu Master’s Realm Creation
For the last part of this segment, we will be talking about one of the biggest headaches we’ve had to look into for this blog. In the Ninjago episode: “The Temple of the Dragon Cores”, the Spirit of the Temple gives a monologue about how the First Spinjitzu Master used the Four Golden Weapons to create the realm of “Ninjago”. However, in the same episode, the First Spinjitzu Master actually created four realms, not just Ninjago. We can see from the visual given that each brown disc symbolizes one of the realms the First Spinjitzu Master created from each of the Golden Weapons. While we don’t know the other 3 realms he created, according to Chris “Doc” Wyatt, one of the lead writers of the show, there are 16 realms parallel to Ninjago, including Ninjago itself that makes 17 realms in total with each realm likely made equal in structure to each other.
To start off, Ninjago has its own outer space with many visible stars, Outer Space is not its own realm, meaning each realm could have an “outer space” of some kind or at least we know Ninjago’s size is big enough to house multiple star systems in it which is then parallel to the other realms. However, the size of Ninjago is actually way larger as it has been referred to as a “universe” more than once as well as a “dimension”. The description of it being a dimension is actually consistent with other realms as realms such as the Underworld and the Realm of Madness have been referred to as dimensions. So all of the realms are universe-sized dimensions then? Well, it is a lot more complex than that as Ninjago’s cosmology gets very convoluted at points. Mainly stuff like how time works, concepts like “The Balance”, higher realms displaced from the main 17, pocket realities like the Digiverse, we could go on for ages but to save time we’ll recap the important cliff notes on what is relevant to the debate.
The First Spinjitzu Master created 4 realms, one being the realm of Ninjago, a universe-sized dimension big enough to hold multiple star systems in it
All realms are supposedly “parallel” to Ninjago so all of the realms are likely the same in size as Ninjago, that being universe-sized
Because the First Spinjitzu Master created 4 of the realms, that means that his power must be around 4x Universal
Now segwaying into what you probably want to know the most, how do the Minifigures scale? This can be easily answered in four words: The Four Golden Weapons. The First Spinjitzu Master used the Golden Weapons to create the 4 realms. Whether it means he made one realm with each of the weapons individually or it took all of the weapon to create one realm is still unknown. However, looking at the visual telling of the story again paints a clear picture as it shows the weapons turning into 4 wooden discs, likely representing the four realms. So each of the weapons on their own possess Universal power and the Minifigures can equip and wield all four of the Golden Weapons in Lego Universe, meaning they can scale to the full “4x” power output of the First Spinjitzu Master with little room to argue otherwise.
Verdicts
Cryotechnics
Oh boy! This matchup is a doozy so I’ll explain it as in-depth as I possibly can.
Starting with stats, with just their stand-alone games, the Miis have a clear advantage. Scaling to the Dark Lord creating Otherworld and Planet Crux’s destruction respectively, The Miis are around 16.88 ExaFOE or Multi-Solar System in power compared to the Minifigures only being 4709 Exatons of TNT or Large Planet. Speed is also clear cut as the Miis’ feat of flying to Jupiter gets around 571 times the speed of light which is way higher than the Minifigures’ best speed feat of scaling to Duke moving in front of a bolt of lightning which ranges from Mach 171 to Mach 771. Even if you wanted to fully scale the Minifigures to their rocketship travelling to different worlds, the speeds of that would only equate to around 220 times the speed of light which is still smaller than the Miis’ speed.
But that’s just with their own games, with crossovers the results are significantly different! Say what you will about Mario stats and everyone has their own interpretation (I also blame Nintendo for never making any of their lore blatant as the series has been nitpicked to death which is why debating Mario is a pain in the ass for me but that’s besides the point). Personally, the safer option is to leave them at Multi-Galaxy given that we don’t know if the black hole affected the Trial Galaxies and we already know that Lumas can become whole galaxies anyways. However, I still buy them being Universal through the Power Stars and Rosalina- the logic makes a lot of sense in my opinion. Even if you don’t buy the scaling as Universal, Galeem’s feat in Smash is much more direct in it being Universal in scale and the Miis can defeat them as well as their dark counterpart, Dharkon, both individually and at the same time so either way, the Miis should be Universal.
On the contrary, with the Minifigures it’s a lot trickier. Both of their best feats to scale to involve Ninjago and the Four Golden Weapons (shocker I know). The Mega Weapon colliding with Delta V gets around 70 to 564 Ronnatons of TNT or Dwarf Star level. Considerably weaker however scaling to the First Spinjitzu Master, the Minifigures can potentially reach Low Multiversal levels of power as the Golden Weapons were used to create four whole realms and the Minifigures are able to wield them in Lego Universe. This potentially makes the Minifigures 4 times Universal and in-turn 4 times stronger than the Miis best power output. Speed however is not even a contest as while the Minifigures have relativistic scaling through different franchises and the Mega Weapon feat to gets over thousands of times faster than light, by scaling Galeem and the Mario cast, the Miis can get to trillions, even quadrillions of times faster than light! This completely eclipses any other speed feat the Minifigures have to the point of the Miis being able to blitz them at a moments notice.
The Miis without crossovers easily take stats over the Minifigures however with crossover scaling, the Minifigures debatably are around 4 times stronger while the Miis are so much faster that they would be running circles around the Minifigures to the point where they can't reasonably react in any way.
Onto arsenal and abilities and this is likely where most of the conversation will be as both have EXTREMELY long lists of what they have at their disposal. Firstly, we’ll talk about what they have in common. Both have various ways of healing themselves. The Miis have HP Sprinkles, certain abilities through the Cleric, Chef, and Flower Jobs, Spirits that can sap life from enemies via touch and can also just autoheal the user over the course of the battle, etc. while the Minifigures have their unique physiology allowing them to survive without pieces of their body and have a plethora of Consumables and also the Everlasting Items like the Cauldron Of Life that can constantly give them health and defense without ever worrying about running out. Both can even steal each other’s magic with the Imp’s “Brain Drain” and the Wizard’s “Magic Steal” as well as have ways of gaining invincibility such as the Invincibility Star and Super Shield which would result in neither really being able to kill each other so they cancel out. I would also like to point out that the Minifigures’s Imagination meter is essentially a non-factor as they can never reasonably run out of it considering how many things in their arsenal replenish it. This essentially means that neither can really put each other down through sheer brute force or outlasting the other.
Aside from similarities, the Minifigures’ arsenal is visually waaaaaaay larger than the Miis with their many weapons, forms, and vehicles and can easily create multiple copies of them with the Copy and Build Tools respectively. This along with abilities that let them summon creatures or other Minifigures to aid them also gives them better control over the battlefield as well as a numbers advantage to boot. However, this is where I need to state my problems with it. Their arsenal may seem grand at face value but when you really look at each of their weapons, there is a lot of repetition. A lot of their other weapons don’t have any useful traits other than being “just a sword” or “just a gun” so if you take away all of the repeated weapons, their arsenal seems a lot smaller than it was previously. This is a clear case of “quantity over quality” as while the Minifigures do have a few ice, fire, and lightning-based weapons and trust me they are still helpful, it won’t take long before the Miis realize that their opponents’ weapons are very much the same sword with a different coat of paint on it.
What I’m trying to say is that the Miis’ arsenal are just way more diverse despite being smaller in comparison. For example, being able to reflect projectiles via either Mii Swordfighter, Mii Gunner, or the Franklin Badge is a huge advantage, meaning that the Minifigures’ 4x power advantage can be used against them. The Miis also have way better maneuverability as a Super Mii thanks to their natural flight while the Minifigures are forced to keep up with either their Mech form or one of many flying vehicles. Being frank, Spirits help the Miis out a TON as they grant them a lot of resistances and immunities to a lot of the Minifigures’ arsenal like their various elemental weapons, explosives and firearms, and the terrain-altering paint guns as mentioned before as well as being put to sleep meaning that any tranquilizer shenanigans won’t be of any real detriment to the Miis. This helped by the fact that they are way faster means that the Miis can swap these Spirits in and out to perfectly fit the situation. The Minifigures have a stock of items and abilities designed to stun, give pushback, or lock the Miis in place to close the gap but given other factors, it may as well be delaying the inevitable as they can’t really do anything substantial to the Miis before the Miis inevitably blitz them. Not to say that they are completely carried by Spirits, if you took them away it would be a much higher mountain to climb but it wouldn’t take away from their other advantages. Aside from that, the Miis are just way harder to be put down. Despite the massive speed gap, even IF the Minifigures were able to land a killing blow to the Miis, the Miis have a backlog of 99 1-Ups they can use to bring themselves back. Meaning that the Minifigures would need to land a lucky killing blow 99 times in order to defeat the Miis for good. The number would likely be even higher as thanks to Miitopia, their multitude of revive options through different Jobs as well as their PASSIVE QUIRKS reviving them from death through sheer will means that they can keep fighting for a long time.
Now I have been talking a lot about how the Minifigures can’t realistically kill the Miis but can the Miis even kill the Minifigures? Minifigure physiology is unique as all of their pieces breaking off doesn’t mean they’re “dead”, moreso permanently incapacitated until put together. Ignoring speed for a bit, the Minifigures at their highest end are still physically stronger than the Miis so the Miis would need to destroy them in one-shot, and luckily for them, they have an ability that can do that. 3 of them in fact! Miitopia gives 3 solid wincons as they are all abilities that have the chance to insta-kill any enemy minus bosses. These being the Cleric’s “Righteous Anger”, the Imp’s “Demonic Whispers”, and the Chef’s “Monster Dinner” although that last one is debatable on whether it would work or not. These abilities if they succeed will be able to kill the Minifigures in one-shot regardless of strength. Even on the chance it fails, the Miis can simply restore their MP and try again! This would be useful at destroying the Minifigures’ physical body but the Minifigures can also turn into/come back as a ghooooost and would be able to still use a majority of the same items. However, the Miis can easily take care of that as they have multiple weapons specifically designed to take care of spectral foes like the weapons from Monster Manor, that one ghost-trapping machine from Wii Play Motion, and even just a normal flashlight can do damage to the Ghost Minifigures and eventually kill them. The Miis can also just… punch the ghosts as they clearly have the ability to in games like Miitopia.
Lastly, discussing tertiaries, intelligence isn’t really a factor as by the nature of them being player avatar characters, it really depends on the intelligence of the person controlling them so they are pretty much equal in that regard. However, when it comes to experience it is no contest. The Minifigures canonically have experience fighting in Roman Times, the American Revolution, etc. Even looking at it from a meta perspective, Lego has been around way longer, with Lego games having been made years prior to the Nintendo Wii’s release in 2006. So while overall intelligence is equal between the two, the Minifigures are far more experienced.
This fight has a lot of factors and while the Minifigures had the superior battlefield control and experience, the Miis simply outclass in stats, abilities, revive options, and reliable wincons to break their blocky adversaries down for good. My vote ultimately goes to the Miis.

Thank You! (from Cryotechnics)
Hi everyone, it’s Cryo!
I just wanted to give a big thank you to everyone who took the time out of their day to read my debut VS blog! It has been roughly 9 months in the making and I am so happy that it is finally out for y’all to appreciate and enjoy. A big thank you to my research team who helped me along the way even if it wasn’t a lot. Any contribution is better than none at all in my eyes and for that I say thank you. Also a thank you to Ninjamonkey3904 for making the images for the background section. I literally, physically or mentally could not have made this blog without all of their support and they have my utmost appreciation. This is a matchup that means a lot to me and to see it get more attention and publicity makes it all the more rewarding.
Even though the journey working through this blog has been very stressful and aggravating at times, I’m glad I built up the resilience to push myself into completing it as I feel this experience will help me in the long run for when I make more of these VS blogs. Speaking of VS blogs, there is no trailer for the rest of Wave 1 (yes this will be organized in waves). There was a time where this wasn’t actually going to be my debut blog and the next time which you will see later was actually planned to be the third, making Mii-nifigures the second. The original debut will be pushed back as there is a certain VS blog still in production which is supposed to be the definitive modern research for one of the series so to avoid risk of my blog being outdated, it will be pushed back later in the wave until that blog comes out. As for the current next time we have actually worked a fair amount on it during the 9 months it took to complete Miis VS Minifigures so expect it to come out fairly soon. What matchup is that you may be asking? Watch the trailer and find out!
Next Time…
